Help a PAM noob choose a first watch please

One thing you'll want to order is a set of 10 tubes (24mm). I picked up some from WSO (ebay). I had issues with pins backing out, even with nail polish (esp the rubber strap) but with the sleeves- its all nice and tight.

Yes, tubes prevent the lugbars from catching the strap and causing the lug bars to back out. Springbars would prevent that (since they would just spin freely).

I have to say I'm liking the spring bars lately. Super easy and convenient. Cheap too. Try em. I got mine in eBay and they were around $8 delivered.

Did they have the faux screw ends to as not to give away their real nature?

Yep, as the springbars can rotate freely without being removed from the watch, there is no need for screw tubes. Plus some of the springbars are of the same diameter as the tubes so even if you wanted to, you couldn't use them.
