I could go on for hours apeaking of luminor vs radiomir, or luminor Bettarini vs luminor 1950, or vintage vs modern for that matter LOL
In a nutshell the radiomir is a thinner and somehow smaller, more elegant watch with a strong retrò taste.
The luminor Bettarini (pam 111 and the likes) is the perfect combination of elegance and strenght combined with a timeless design.
I was debating this while writing about my 082 build. Imho the Bettarini is in the olympus of watch design together with the rolex oyster case and the royal oak by Gerald Genta.
Thank you this us very good info

I've always found Radiomirs to look bigger on my wrist than the Luminors. It's because of the thinner bezel. I love the crown guards, so no more Radiomirs for me. Ever. :)
I was just watching YouTube review from the same guy who reviewed the 183 and then the 111. He said he has a 6 and 1/3 wrist, so a little smaller than mine. The 111 looked much thicker than the 183 and the lugs of the 111 reached just slightly too long on him imo but the 183 seemed to fit just perfectly. That makes me think the 45 rad wears quite thinner and less lug to lug length.

I know I can fit a 111 in terms of length from lug to lug, it's the max I thunk I can pull off, but it is quite thick.

I think in terms of fit the rad would wear better on me.

I guess the only way to really know is to order both and try them. Or maybe I should go to the AD first and try

That's a nice looking watch. Unfortunately is not on my list nor does it meet the case type or case size I specified. I'm not interested in over 44mm nor 1950 cases. It was clear in my post that I'm worried about size on my wrist

Right. I have a small wrist too. I've held off trying the 47mm Pam's myself. But lately I've tried a 372 and a 127. You'd be surprised at how well these Wear on the wrist and how comfortable. But you will be very happy with a 111. I have a modded 111 and I've owned several gens too. I once had a 312 gen and it felt heavy and bulky because of the auto movement. I'm since a fan oh handwound.

Anyway, whatever you get I'd just recommend sending it out to be modded straight away. Others will have their opinion on this, but...theirs nothing worse than washing your hands and later seeing foggy glass on your watch. I'd send it to be looked over and pressure tested and gaskets done, etc. Enjoy your search and just remember it won't be your last Pam. By any means...

Great answer my friend!

Maron, if you have the budget consider a Marlin modded Pam. Check out his section https://forum.replica-watch.info/forums/marlins-watch-garage.368/

I've owned or still own all of these models except for the PAM210 (but not for a lack of trying :p ) so here are my thoughts.

111 - V4 is the best option, although it's hard to get. However, the watch didn't really sing to me, hence I've bought and sold it 3x already. But that's just me.

112 - Best person to ask about the movement upgrades would be the TDs. Case might be upgraded to 111 standards but probably only up to V2.5. Again the TDs would know the latest info. But unfortunately this suffered the same "issue" as the PAM111 so this had to go.

000 - Current best version is the H-fac O-series. I think that's the one I got.

005 - The N-series Noob V2 and H-fac V2 are currently the best versions. I also have this.

390 - All the PAM390s released except coming from DSN were classified as super reps. Sold my Noob. Still miss it terribly. Might have to "settle" for the H-factory myself but then it's also super rep level.

210 - The latest and best release is still the H-factory version

183 - Latest version, still first class though, is the O-series H-factory

380 - The N-series H-factory PAM380 is still the best. I actually bought the 183 and the 380 in an awesome combo deal in RG for an unbelievable 250$. One of my best purchases.

I won't try to convince you to consider the submersibles as you seem to be focused on the smaller 44mm (or rads at 45mm). There are super reps at the 44mm size though (PAM243 M series Noob V2 or M-series H-fac V2 and the PAM087 F series H-fac). For reference my wrists are at a paltry 16cm.

Good luck!

In no way an expert but i spent much time going over the PAM guide before buying my first PAM. I finally chose the Noob 111 which i am very happy with. It wears just fine on my very thin wrist.
Remember that those small tells will be much less visible on the actual watch than they are on the large forum images.

you mean hard to get because it's a mix of parts?

112 - Best person to ask about the movement upgrades would be the TDs. Case might be upgraded to 111 standards but probably only up to V2.5. Again the TDs would know the latest info. But unfortunately this suffered the same "issue" as the PAM111 so this had to go.

why did 111 and 112 not really sing to you? was it the movement ?

000 - Current best version is the H-fac O-series. I think that's the one I got.

i'm leaning hard on the 000 right now, i love open caseback but closed it more "gen". and I find the dial to be of perfect balance on this model

005 - The N-series Noob V2 and H-fac V2 are currently the best versions. I also have this.

I like this one too but I find with the logo, the seconds indicactor and the extra text on the dial it's a bit busy

390 - All the PAM390s released except coming from DSN were classified as super reps. Sold my Noob. Still miss it terribly. Might have to "settle" for the H-factory myself but then it's also super rep level.

I'm familiar with those watches you mention here. I am shying away from 1950 cases, 47mm cases and submersibles. I'm just looking to keep it smaller, thinner and simple for my first go at PAM.

Thank you for this post, it was exactly what I was looking for. That being said do you have any comment on the 44mm luminor vs 45 mm rad debate?

Good luck!

Welcome to the 'slippery slope' of PAM ownership.:atwitsend:

I started with a 111 'to try' and fell in love - now on a mission to re-fill my watch boxes with PAMs. There are so many and they give you the ease to change from one look to another by swapping straps, which are readily available.
Here is the one that started it with me, never sell it - my PAM 111 on leather but now on a rubber, for a change. You won't regret it but your wallet will.......:clap_1:

Hope it helps.

I couldn't quote your post as your reply was embedded in my post which you quoted. Anyway, to answer your questions.

1. Yes during each of the many times I asked about the PAM210 it wasn't available.
2. The V4 is hard to get because what people usually get are not a true V4.
3. For some reason the PAM111 looked boring to me, I don't know why. The PAM112 as well although it might have had something to do with the too base look. Add the logo on the PAM000 and it was fine.
4. 44mm Luminors vs 45mm Rads. I love the look on both of them and there are certain situations that favor one over the other. However, if I were to choose, I would go for Luminors and that has nothing to do with aesthetics, they are both very nice looking. It's simply a matter of convenience because I really don't like the strap change system on the Rads, and I change my straps frequently.

If it helps, I tried find a couple pics that were taken further away so you can get an idea of case to wrist. I have a 7.25" wrist and these are the 47mm fiddy and 44mm luminor.

Sorry but I totally can't recall. I bought it a few years ago for my dad. He likes 47mm. I thought I couldn't pull it off. Then I recently borrowed it from him and I haven't been able to give it back [emoji23]

Based on the thickness of the font, I'd say that's an SF version. The ZF version, though also white, has thicker fonts.

Thank you. The 1950 case seems much wider but not necessarily longer in lug to lug.
