Hello friends,

Hi, my name is Maron and I'm a Pam Noob. I'm wanting to try my first Pam but WOW are there so many models and also versions offered by rep factories. I have read the Pam guide, only once for now and this is how I came to compile my initial list which has since been narrowed down somewhat. For some reason the Pam guide although opening is not loading the pictures the last week before RWI crashed and since it's been up again so I'm somewhat limited to it's use at the moment.

Ok, so allow me to present to you my desired outcome here. I will share with you all a list of the watches I'm interested in and I would appreciate some feedback on the watch itself and whether it may or may not be right for me, which factories are currently producing the particular model and is it available. I ask this because since I made my current list I've come to realize that several of the watches I selected from Ale's guide are no longer available period, or no longer available from a particular factory such as noob.

Just a little bit of info about me. This will be my first Pam, although I have tried on my buddies 005 and although it's a bigger watch than I'm used to it did fit my wrist without the lugs hanging over the edge. I have about a 6.5 inch wrist and I normal wear watches like a rolex 16600, omega smp, tudor blackbay, seiko sumo. So certainly a Paneria is a little out of my comfort zone, I have therefore restricted my list to 44mm luminor case with handwind movment (to keep the thickness less) and 45 mm radiomir handwind ( i'm told it wears a bit smaller and thinner than the luminor). I like the base models but I also don't mind the seconds hand. What is drawing me to the Pam models is the handwind movement and the simple design. I've never been into straps but if this mission is a success I will soon be opening a door to a whole new world. Initially I was drawn to the luminor case but when I realized the radiomir in 45mm is said to wear a bit smaller that had me thinking it might suite me better, i really do like the look of them though.

Without further ado, my list:

111, 112, 000, 005, 390 and 210, 183, 380

I had originally included some ceramic or pvd models such as 360 or 292. But I decided to keep it simple for my first try and if it didn't work out a more standard model would be easier to flip.

111 - I know that noob "v4" is the best option here

112 - who makes the best version of this currently and would it have the same movement upgrades the 111 has?

000 - best version available?

005 - same as above?

390 - i know that noob is no longer making this and h factory is the only option. Would this still be considered a super rep?

210 - i know this is not a super rep but first class medium maybe? which factory has the best available?

183 - see above

380 - this one is bordering super rep , what is the best currently available?

Please experienced Pam members and experts share with me your knowledge and experience. Luminor or Radiomir? What are the current super reps or near super reps that fit my list? Any other suggestions? Please share many photos with descriptions?

thank you RWI fam and welcome back to the new RWI and hope everyone is enjoying some holidays!

I am by no means a pro, but IMHO, go with a base model that has a closed CB, like the 000. If youre concerned with accuracy, even the most recent 111's movement looks poor. The bridges are nice, but the finish on the balance wheel and gear train look horrible once you've seen Gen/Swiss(like the 127 movement in my sig).

Here are a couple pics. I do not have a better pic of the stock movement, so the harsh lighting does make it look slightly worse than it is, but is does emphasize the shiny finish on the gear train and balance wheel. The Gen has a very nice satin finish to the gear train as well as the inner spokes of the balance wheel... and the outer edge has a nice polish to it. Also the rep/gen Incabloc is quite different. On the gen, the edge of the spring is set much further in and the jewel is also larger.

Thanks for that feedback. I know it's safe bet to go for a closed caseback, so 000, 005, 390, 380. I do find the 005 just a little busy with the seconds hand and the logo. The 000 with the logo but no seconds hand has a nice balance. The 390 dial is a little plain lacking the logo and the seconds hand but I love the gold hands and tobacco dial.

Regarding the open caseback on the 111, 210 and 183. I know the movenent is a tell but I'm so attracted to the unitas movement that I may be able to live with that. I used to have a steinhart Nav B with the unitas and open caseback and I just loved see the movenent go.

Do you know what the best available 000 is at the moment, I think noob might be discontinued.

Thanks for sharing that! I'm not going to lie that went a little over my head, I'm not familiar with the parts of the movement.

111 is an amazing watch. I can't vouch for the others on the list, but I love my Noob v3. A different strap completely changes the watch. It's very versatile

It's almost as if I wrote this post myself! Same wrist length and similar watches tried, but interested in trying a Pam. Of all I've seen I think I like the 111 the best despite its open caseback. I think Ale's guide still says the v3 is better last I read but I'm not sure if that is still the current state of play. I've put off buying it for now but after reading your post I'm definitely interested in seeing what others have to say.

Well I hope this post will serve you as much as me. I believe as far as 111 the v3 is no longer available. What I'd available is a mix of v3 and v4 parts, the dealers call it a v4. But you never know which parts you'll get so you have to pay attention to qc. In particular I would insect the OP engravings on the movement

That's a nice looking watch. Unfortunately is not on my list nor does it meet the case type or case size I specified. I'm not interested in over 44mm nor 1950 cases. It was clear in my post that I'm worried about size on my wrist
127. And get some nice straps. Can not go wrong

My fav is the 390. Can't beat tobacco dial and gold hands :)

Go for the 390! I can fortunately wear 47mm watches and the 372 is my favorite by far. And it's because there's no second hand and the golden hands are gorgeous. 390 is somewhat similar in that respect, so I think you'll love it. The 111 and similar are boooooooring and plain and generic in my eyes ever since I got the 372..

Do you have any comment regarding radiomir vs luminor?

Sent from the RWI mobile app

I could go on for hours apeaking of luminor vs radiomir, or luminor Bettarini vs luminor 1950, or vintage vs modern for that matter LOL
In a nutshell the radiomir is a thinner and somehow smaller, more elegant watch with a strong retrò taste.
The luminor Bettarini (pam 111 and the likes) is the perfect combination of elegance and strenght combined with a timeless design.
I was debating this while writing about my 082 build. Imho the Bettarini is in the olympus of watch design together with the rolex oyster case and the royal oak by Gerald Genta.

I've always found Radiomirs to look bigger on my wrist than the Luminors. It's because of the thinner bezel. I love the crown guards, so no more Radiomirs for me. Ever. :)
