Heartbreaking separation from Trusty Time after thousands of dollars of business with them.

It really breaks my heart to type this but everyone should know that the trip from hero to zero is not a far fall with Trusty time. I have purchased MANY thousands of dollars in watches with Andrew in 2020. My first order in January 2021 included a top of the line Noob V10 Rolex DeepSea James Cameron as well as other watches. It was fantastic for about 3 days.
jdiNL2.jpg

After that time the click spring on the dive bezel lifted and the clicker bearings were starting to come out. It was something that was obviously not right. It was also something that could not be seen in the QC pics so I have no idea to if this is the way it was in the first place but who knows.

I have had a great relationship with Andrew up to then so I knew that he would take care of me. Reached out immediately and we set up a repair order with someone here in the states with the assurances that we were going to replace the full case kit with a brand new bezel rather than a repair on this click spring. After about a month and a half and paying out of pocket for shipping both ways, it was back in my hands again. ONLY to have it have break the same way just a few days later. The amazing thing is I dont even use the dive bezel, a single turn was all it took to dislodge again and see the bearings on the brink of falling out.

This was definitely either a NOOB design flaw OR this was just the same bezel/case kit realigned. I again emailed Andrew looking for options and that is when the excuses began. First it was that NOOB didnt have any parts available.. then the summer 2021 raids that shut down Noob.. I suggested a swap for an identical Noob watch.. suggested swapping for the equilivant priced ARF watch.. suggested an ARF case kit and fitting my noob movement in it.. Suggested a refund and return of the Noob watch.. suggested a significant discount on the purchase of a new watch and just mothballing this one.. suggested suggested suggested and the answer on all fronts was no no no and a justification to why.

Just had another email go around on all options and the answer is still radio silence and excuses. I have not purchased one watch from him in 2021 since due to this and had to spend my watch addiction dollars elsewhere. But at this point I am heartbroken to say that unless he can come up with a solution in the next few days to end this year long endless circle around the campfire of excuses and turn this story above into a positive one, I will never spend another dollar with Trusty again.

I hope that he pulls something out at the last inning that is better than his latest offer for a $35 credit for selling me a defective $500+ watch.

Based on the other similar posts here it seems that it takes some bad press on all of the forums for Andrew to actually engage with working on a solution. :( But it is truly heartbreaking. I loved working with TT up to this point and always had the proverbial "I never thought that it would happen to me" attitude considering how much I have spent with him. I guess any customer no matter how big or small is replaceable.

And that really sucks. The watch gods demand new watches and he was my #1 go to for that. I was hoping that this was going to be a good run for years to come. I was all prepped to spend another $1000 or so that next month on few more but that all had to be put on hold. The gods were not happy. I hate rebuilding relationships with another TD.

Well something like that really sucks but repairing the click springs is an easy task for a watchsmith.
Maybe even for you. You could take off the bezel by yourself with some tape and a knife and see what the problem is.
It’s really simple. There are also some YouTube videos how to do it.
Maybe this is also why Andrew is kind of ignoring it.

Mate Try reaching out to a forum modder, I’m sure they’ll put it right for you. Genuinely looks like a simple re-seating issue. Can’t see why you need a new case lol.

I honestly wouldn’t waste my time talking to any China dealers about stuff like this.

In most cases forum modders can put it right and you’ll have your watch back in a few weeks - without having to go through all the drama with China dealers.

Get it fixed locally and ask dealer for a discount time time.

If you do need new strings, gaskets etc - get Swiss aftermarket parts ?ebay).

Let us know how it goes....someone here will know how to fix it mate

You paid the shipping BOTH ways on a defect that you couldn't possibly see in "QC", they didn't fix the issue and offered you a $35 "credit"??? That's enough for me to cross them off the list prospective vendors. "Trusted" dealer? I guess you can "trust" them to take your money and renege on any serious defects in workmanship. Maybe one of the mods can intervene.

We buy counterfeits from Chinese who take risks in this activity and some would like an after-sales service as for their Seiko or Citizen bought in a large store in the city...

Sry to hear of your troubles! When any watch breaks down it’s heartbreaking imo.
I agree with mech500

I don’t understand the Chinese route you have taken. Ok if you need a certain (clone movement) part from a factory but this sounds kind of generic, as in find a local watch smith or a member here on RWI. Not all is lost, please find help here so the watch can be repaired.

OH I am sure I will but that is the frustrating part. I should not have to jump through all of the hoops to get what I was promised before the sale. Breaking a year later? Sure I can get that. They are reps and assembled by people locked in basements of Raman packaging plants. But to fall apart in my hand a few days after it arrives? Sorry.. not going to accept that.

I had one watch that I got from TT that had an exhibition case back. After a week or so, parts from the movement were falling off inside the case and eventually the actual rotor fell of the stem. Andrew suggested that I take the watch apart and repair it myself. Really? I am not a watch technician. But I managed to get it all open and figure it out but that should have been a clue to what was coming.

Granted I get that he isn't the manufacturer and I assume that they are treating the vendors same way. The delivery boy delivers the order to them under the cover of darkness in an unmarked van and then don't ask about it again. But when your servicing customers, especially when they have spent enough that you could buy a small car, one would think that you would want to take care of those customers. Thinking business, I would not sacrifice another $8000 in business (and that was only 2020) over a $500 single sale. But heck, what do I know? Assuming that I purchased the same watches from him in 2021 and 2022 he has lost $16,000 in sales that are and will go to another TD. That's just DUMB.

My hopes is that Andrew comes up with a solution and life is great again. All could be forgiven. The latest email was a "its not my fault" and "xxx is beyond our control" type email. Not holding my breath there. But I control where that next $8000 goes too. We all do. I am sure that another TD would love to add that many thousands in sales to their books and would be happy to service me.

It just sucks.

Absolutely sucks re your issue and hopefully you're made right soon.

And maybe it's none of my business, but given the platform you're posting on, and the likelihood that it was the very one that provided the information that led you to the TD listing in the first place (and thus your beautiful watches), perhaps worthwhile spending a few bucks to help 'support' the site?

Be it $35 for Supporter or $100 for Patron, we're still talking peanuts compared to what you've spent in 2020 alone.

https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...ead-moderated/290305-why-should-you-subscribe

Anyway, just a thought & best of luck with Trusty.

Not saying you should accept it. I am saying you should seek a practical solution which is find a local watch smith or a RWI member and claim the costs at Trusty.

You just cannot have the same customer experience and expectations as for example Amazon. These watches are counterfeit items and are made by crime syndicates. What’s your next step, file a complaint, sue them? You have every right to be angry but fgs lower your standards and expectations, cut the drama and think practical. GL!

You know you are correct there. I have flirted with that idea myself because I am grateful for the volumes of information that I have pulled from here. And yes, you are correct. It was the forum here that took me to the TD in the first place, and will be to my next one if I cant come to a reasonable solution with TT. I like to think that I am a reasonable guy and have given TT a dozen different options and a year to figure it out.

But thank you for that suggestion. I need to do that as to show my appreciation alone for all that RWI has given me.

I have been buying from Andrew since 2008 and I would say I had given him almost $15k worth of business between myself and pieces I help my friends to source. At peak I had 10 watches shipped to my work.

Long story short I had a brand new noob V3 daytona back in 2020 and it was dead in one day. I reached out and see what he can do and he offered to get it looked at it if I shipped it to China, this is during COVID and also custom risk. He in turn offered me a $25 discount and claims his margins around 20-30USD per watch. I have asked another TD and he confirmed at minimum is at least 60ish (it depends on models).

TBH I'm still buying from him cos he has a UK account with 5% discount if I pay direct. But his service has been very bad for the last few yrs. Gone are the days where I got my email replied within minutes to now not even one email reply a day. Now you have dealers on WhatsApp, if your form of payment doesn't warrant you any discount, I wouldn't bother go with Andrew or even Angus, but other smaller dealers with less volume and better service as these dealers are just too big are couldn't scale.

If the service is no longer up to par, go with another TD, Andrew will live without your future $8k, and hopefully you’ll find a dealer who deals with your whining and unrealistic expectations better. Also your kind of racist attitude (made by workers locked in that basement of a Ramen shop…)

HAHA.. really? Is that all that you got of that story? Please just STFU if you cant add anything of value to the conversation other than calling someone a racist like everyone else on your street in California? Apparently you have let your Californiacation-woke virus kill off your sense of humor. I supposed if I also said that the courier delivered the watch in the black of night that I would be racist also right? Please go back to your hole and the rest of us will just enjoy our common love of watches and laugh at jokes the way life used to be!

I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars, I can’t believe Andrew has done me dirty like this, I bet I’m the highest buyer in the history of rep sales, he should have flown out to me and fixed it!
