Almost a year ago, once wearing a homage MM Luminor case blue dial from a TD, a collegue of mine, Rolex user, accostumed on black dial pams, noticed the watch I was wearing and he was impressed and made compliments about the watch and color dial, but didn't ask about it was gen or rep, neither do I had to explain it.....

Unlike TAG, Rolex, Omega, Seiko, G-Shock, Michael Corrs or Michéle watches - for 99% of people Panerai is just a big, black watch. At the second look, it´s a very strange looking, big, black watch - probably from China or Taiwan, no Swiss or Italian would ever make a watch like that.
Unless You´re going to a Panerai convention or frequent the upper class of the Worlds Metropoles, the chances to be called out are like 0,00001%
- and they all look exactly the same.......

All I have to say is that I met Sylvester Stallone yesterday and I wore my Bronzo. And nothing happened :) it's all about confidence my friend.

Wow I step away from the rep game for 5 years or so and people are worried about the same stuff. Looks it's easy. If you drive an economy car and have a fancy watch on your wrist, people think it's a fake. The other day a waiter poured me some water and I noticed he had a rolex sub on. No tells, nothing gave it away other than the fact that most waiters don't wear Rolexes.

have a watch box full of gens and people know me as a watch guy- so if I ever wore a replica nobody would question. the "Fake" part is more about YOU than the thing on your wrist. But ni general regular people don't care about watches.

TBH on a closed Caseback PAM it would be almost impossible for anyone to tell its a fake. PAMs these days are so well built.

On a quick note I drive my daily car which is a toyota Yaris worth $5k wearing my Gen Rolex 116613LB and my Gen IWC which are worht 3 x the amount of the car. Dont judge a book by its cover.

Correction, some people are still worried about it. ;) I wear my fantasy PAMs without any care in the world. I do make it a point not to go into any AD knowingly wearing my rep though. But that's not a worry about getting called out, it's simply rep etiquette. Manufacturers know about reps, no reason to needlessly rub their faces in it.

Not sure how wearing any replica is rubbing anyone's nose in it. Actually I checked and it's been 7 years since I checked in with RWI! Started buying gens and never looked back. But I have a couple of rep pams and a nice franken sub, that I use when I travel. Had the watches passed around the dinner table all over the world and nobody ever suspected the watch was not real- but i ALWAYS explain to people that it is a "Super high Quality" clone of my real "Swiss' watch that I keep locked up at home- and everyone wants to know where to get one.

Wearing a replica per se is not. Wearing a replica into an AD is. If you still don't understand then your 7 years away is more than enough explanation for me. The topic has been discussed exhaustively.

I was out tonight and a lot of "friends friends had Rolex and they all stared at my 372 Noob. I seriously chuckled inside. It's just funny. They never asked about it but I find it funny that we all get freaked out at times wether someone will call you out. The general public has no idea. We as enthusiast are harder on ourselves and pickier then gen owners. Cheers

I attended a party this weekend - after dinner a guy comes over saying I Saw your watch earlier ...aren't those bronze Pam quite rare...?
I answered with a question about his watch - a 311... And changed subject away from my 382 3 times....
First time ever that my watch Got so much attention - and first time I was a bit uneasy about it.
He did not know what a 382 cost!!! And I always Think almost nobody knows what it is... so normally I wear it without any thoughts about being Called out.

You know he's gonna go home and Google the price. Lol. You think you're likely to see him again at the next dinner party or whatever? If so, you might have to wear something else. Hehe.

Yeah I know... normally I would tell it is a rep if someone shows a lot of interest - but it was not the time and moment..
Then again - I have my own Company - building vacation houses... So as no one actually knows what I make in $ I could theoretically afford one....[emoji6]

Yeah I don't know. What wristwatch I'm wearing does not limit where I travel. I can't say that I have ever worn a replica watch into a watch store myself- but so what? Nobody goes to jail. I just always made it a policy to not let the "little white lies" of life become the norm. I have been asked if my watch was "real" several times i my life- and in all cases i was wearing a genuine watch- so I answered honestly. But whenever anyone noticed my watch and it was a replica- I volunteered the information immediately- makes for a much more interesting story anyway.

Well, rarely did anybody say (and I doubt that will change) that they have ever worn a replica in an authorized dealer's premises. Nor should it prevent or somehow limit your activities. As for going to jail, thankfully not yet anyway though people have been jailed for far more frivolous reasons (I've gone to Hong Kong several times, would you believe they'll throw you in jail for milk?). It's a "rule", nothing that would get you into trouble anywhere should you accidentally or even intentionally do it. But if you do it (and especially intentionally), don't expect high fives all around. I've read (although not proven, no one would volunteer to test it  ) that in some countries, they will confiscate your replica (nothing will happen to you personally). By the way, the "what do you say when asked about your rep" has also been discussed quite a lot as well. ;)

We have a Panerai Event in my hometown once a year. Panerai Boutique is set up and all. I'd never wear a rep to that either. That's just asking or being called out. Steering clear of This and any AD is wise and a No No. Hearing about people wearing reps into AD's is just plain ignorant.

Panerai reps in particular are not going to attract negative attention.. rolex on the other hand..even if it's gen people will call u out.
Btw, had a rolex situation recently..had my 5513 on and during a meeting in front of other coworkers this jack ass looks at my watch and screams it's a fake.. so calmly I ask him why he thought that. He said the hands did not have a smooth sweep.. then I smirked and proceeded to school him on rolex.
