That was less than a week ago, I couldn't have been happier with the watch. Then I stumbled upon this thread on RWG and it got me worried:

http://rwg.cc/topic/140880-be-careful-with-the-sw200-based-models/

In the thread problems with the SW200 movement are discussed regarding teeth stripping on the ratchet wheel. Apparently it's a common problem with the movement.

Then I stumbled upon this:
f3ae1e37a5c2eeadb11bb79466f3cdb9.jpg

One teeth broken off, and it's a matter of time before more follow... [emoji32] For now the watch still runs strong, but I can't wait for the little brass teeth to destroy the movement, so before anymore damage will be inflicted on it I'm having the ratchet wheel replaced...

All of you sw200 owners: check your ratchet wheel! If your clock stops ticking it might be too late!

Oh my, thanks for the heads-up. Anyone else facing this issue?

What a bad news, I was planning on getting the SW200... should I still purchase it or do I have to find solid alternative(s)?

I'm planning the following fix: upgrade to sw200-1 (which was Sellita's answer to the ratchet wheel problem). The upgrade is established by swapping three wheels:

http://www.sellita.ch/images/stories/documents/IS05_evolution_calibre_SW200_vers_SW200-1.pdf

I'm currently looking for a watch smith willing to do the fix.

Still I think the v6f version is worth the buy. I absolutely love it...

Did you already bought the wheels to substitute the "weak" ones ? Are they available thru the usual channels (ofrei and similar) ?

Please keep us updated.

My V6F is ongoing, after a first rejection.

Many thanks for your post !

Wheels are available. I found a watchmaker who will do the fix for me. His supplier will provide the parts. Approx. total costs: 50 euros.

Will keep you updated...

This is welcome news to newcomers to this thread interested in purchasing. Received this pic (from a set of them) for a 5167 to confirm it was the model I was looking for. Looks like V6F started putting updated SW200-1 movements inside.

Haha.. I suspected and believe so.. I flipped one of them around ;)

Nice score/bonus for you!.. So enticing!

I'm in debate whether to wait for v6f 3.3mm movement aquanauts to rls or pull the trigger on this.

I'm going for this version. So many people swear by it

I thought about waiting for the new updated thinner movement, but you never know if there's going to be a big backward step eg screwing up the dial. The current v6f has a lot of fans and the dial is magical how it looks black, grey or chocolate in different light. The thinness isn't a massive issue for me: my 2824 is 9.8mm vs gen at 8.5mm. That's a big difference for a dress watch like the nautilus, but for a sporty watch like this, it doesn't bother me. 8.5mm might actually feel too thin.

The movement could be a disaster as well. I've got a feeling the acquanaut is going to be the guinea pig as they're not releasing the 5711 for months.

If the new 5167 ends up being amazing I can always buy one later

How reliable would a new Chinese 3.3mm movement be? My expectations are not too high...

Sead got this for me. Someone posted qc pics from an unnamed factory that came from trevor because he couldn't get v6f. I just love this watch so much I didn't want to miss the boat with a known good version. You don't see these come up on m2m too often

It's definitely an unknown. I imagine if it craps out there wouldn't be too many options to fix it. I'm rooting for it for the sake of the nautilus though. If it's a flop I'll have to figure a way of getting the mk4 dial into the BP v1 case

I will see if I can get it touch with him, thank you.

Btw, I am planning to use the Aquanaut as a donor for the fresh gen dial I got just yesterday :)

Thanks, guys! I've been looking for the 5167 dial ever since there was one up for sale on RWI late last year, but then I was still in my crazy AP phase.

Pricewise, this one was very much priced as a gen AP diver dial, i.e. not cheap at all. Yet, it was nowhere near another 5167 offering which I saw just today that was going for EUR2700. It's probably fair to say that anything under $1800 for this dial would be lucky, and I got lucky :)

I would love to save money for a beautiful watch with a reliable movement. However,I do have my doubts about a 3.3 mm Chinese movement. How reliable will it be? And in case of damage; will spare parts be easily available? It could definitely be a deal breaker for me.

Let me put it this way, for me reliability is more important than looks. And the current Vf6 Aquanaut is already damn stunning...
