GMF released a GMT 3186 clone movement

I am surprised to see people intrested in the ICHS BLNR. I thought that would be yesterday's news now the CHS version is out. Anyway the ICHS GMF is a fine purchase, I have thoroughly enjoyed mine. But if it weren't for COVID19 I would be all over this one...

Well, people are also getting eta clones in Rolex watches instead of true movement clones. It's all about reliability and cost I guess. If your not keen on investing or modding much you can easily put a real eta in your watch when the movement dies and have some years of fun.

I'm really happy with it but ....it has its known faults. The rehaut alignment, rhe higher crystal, the ICHS, the bezel insert, in my case a jubilee strap on a 116710, all stuff I could easily live with then and can live witj now but this reiteration has a better insert, rehaut alignment (I hope), CHS, and with a VR3185 movement swap and a gen crystal which I already have will be super close to gen ....flog my ICHS for half price on M2M and presto ....
now for that virus to away ....

Pros of 2836 ICHS, even today these aspects favor buying one

Movement is rock solid
Easy to work on, ETAs are great learner movements
Easy servicing, can do it yourself
Replacement movement parts are cheap and readily available
Can install a gen Swiss ETA and carry over the GMT bits
The jump click (which operates the GMT hand) never breaks
Quickset date change (I hate hour jumping to change the date even on my gen)
Cheaper and more availability of GMT dials to swap things up if you want
ETA hands easily available if needed or desired. I have yet to see gen-spec aftermarket 6 digit hands for sale other than gen. TDs could be a source, but not easy these days.
Can still use gen crystal and DW if you want
Correct setting direction when used in a 126710 rep.

So as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I spoke with Li at JTime and he suggested that the ICHS also was getting the v3 bezel insert. I pulled the trigger on an ICHS from him and received QC pics this morning. Here's my QC: https://imgur.com/a/9bAHKIH

I am not so sure this is the v3 insert, though the speed bumps on the 6 are not at all apparent so perhaps it is? I do have a few concerns about my QC though that are going to get addressed with JTime. Just thought I would share what I got from them in case it helps others.

Yeah,if i would order i will order like this cuz i like it both on jubilee and oyster but i would maybe order with jubilee stock because coronet on 6 and plus oyster separately

Not v3. Color tranisiton on 18 is in the wrong Spot.
They fixed this in v3

How bad was it before? I uploaded these and uploaded high quality so people can see. If they're too big, lmk and I can use a smaller size.

The transition at 18 looks... Obvious to me.

Insert actually looks pretty good. But bad alignment on 18. Definitely looks improved to me. Not v3 however. Looks like the 1’s have the curve whereas v3 don’t, right?

Thanks for looking. I agree the transition at 18 is fairly obvious and on the v3 that is not the case. I don't think this is the v3 CHS insert we've seen in the earlier, non-QC pictures, but I do believe this to be an improved insert versus what has been coming out of QC prior. I have also seen the v3 CHS appear to fix the rehaut alignment, whereas the alignment still seems like a problem on ICHS.

I identified the following concerns so far on my QC:

1. The 12 on the insert has something in it. Need to confirm this is not a chip in the paint or something permanent.
   
   
   
2. The 9 o'clock marker reveals what appears to be a black spec in the crystal. Need to confirm this is not something permanent.
   
   
   
   
3. The oyster clasp has some damage to the plastic protective layer and the pic may reveal some actual damage to the clasp in that area. Need to confirm that there is no damage to the underlying bracelet and that this is nothing permanent.
   
   

If any of these are permanent issues I will likely RL, but if these are just dirt / plastic covering issues I am thinking I will GL. I have seen better QCs for ICHS, honestly, but I know it's a lottery.

I think you might have understood me wrong. In your pictures is not a v3 but an old one.

Yes, but that is the brand new CHS v3 with movement clone from GMF. It's seeming likely that the ICHS insert is different than the CHS insert at this point, but they both appear improved over previous QCs.

Rep and gen ceramic inserts for Rolex sport models are all the same size. GMF would have no reason to put different inserts in same model cases that use the same bezel unless they had some leftover from a previous batch. Li said the ICHS version has the new insert, I see no reason to doubt him.

The fact that the Trusty video is showing the old insert in a CHS V3 indicates some old inserts were still on hand. But that's the only one of those I've seen. Dang... so did you order a v3 ICHS, too? I sent back a response to Jana to request that we try again on the QC and this time ensure that the next QC will have the v3 insert.

Looking ahead I am wondering if any of you have had experience changing an order because of repeated bad QCs or an inability to provide the expected model? In this case I am wondering if ICHS will actually ever get the v3 insert or if we were all correct originally and only the CHS versions will see the new insert. Bottom line, I don't think I will be happy without the v3 insert so I may have to change my order to a CHS and I am wondering if anyone has ever done this once in the QC stage.

I ordered the 3186 CHS. I’m anxious to check out this movement and see how it works and how it functions. I was also somewhat excited about some of the physical details of this watch so we'll see.
