The one I had, the red reversing wheel had no paint on the teeth.

Also it was finished very very nicely. They did an excellent job with the finish. And also, like the gen, there's like a serial number printer on the outer edge like at 5 o'clock. If you scroll back a few months you can see pics I posted.

I just spoke to Li on Friday. GMF stopped using the 3185 clone, now they are back to using the old movement. Good luck, hope you get lucky!!

That's a dealbreaker, especially since they just clearanced all the V2s at $288. What a ripoff.

This is a 2824 CHS timebomb, assuming the hour hand is on the bottom. There's just a fake 3285 engraving. Sad times at GMF.

The telltale ETA identifier is the autowind device and oversized crown wheel

That sample has a standard bump, you are not likely going to get anything better. If you paid for a V3 with a true clone movement, I would ask for pics of the movement to make sure you didnt get the 2824 CHS timebomb instead. There's been some of that happening lately.

That engraving is 3186. It's the true clone movement GMF first came out with, based on the SA3135 (not SH, not VR). There is a lot of info about that movement in the early pages of this thread, around 5 - 15 or so. Hour jumping is reversed from gen/SH/VR so it has to have a proprietary (factory jury-rigged) jump click. That's not to say it won't last, just that it won't be replaceable by a gen part like SH/VR are.

I'm guessing GMF ran out of SA3186s, briefly used VR3185s to fill a gap, then decided to maximize profits by just going back to their previous 2824 CHS timebomb. Customers be damned.

The other possibility is their supply of SA3186s has been replenished and they are back to square 1. Better than the timebomb, but not a VR3185.

Well put KJ, this inconsistency is bothering me too. The main reason, I contacted Li was because I wanted the GMF Rootbeer but I am going to hold off (will not buy without a VR movement inside)

I did the same. Ordered and paid for a CHNR two weeks ago. Factory was out of bracelets and causing a delay in QC. Today, especially after seeing the movement swaps, I changed my order.

KJ2020 Thanks I received the watch and confirmed it’s SA3186 and the hour jump in reverse (forward when turn anti clockwise, backward when clockwise). First observation is quite positive with accuracy is very good at -1.5 second per day, and this is with autowind over normal usage as I haven’t wound it manually at all. After 2 days of normal wearing (with 12 hour sitting in between) it is still running accurately after 18 hours of idling. If only the bezel fonts are better!

Data point - received my GMF v3 in August (ordered July). Opened the back - looks like its an SA3186 (silver balance staff) - at least not the timebomb movement!

Thanks! I only noticed how oily/dirty it is after I posted the photos!! I just took it off my wrist and shot with my phone. Btw I was following on the Angus’s threat on ARF new SUB41 and the “black hole” “halo” cyclops effect. From my pics I seems GMF did a decent job for these? Or I’m still clueless what it should look like? I was comparing with my gen YM and DJ and cyclops effect look similar to my pics here?

Looks the same as the V3, it doesn't even have the new GMF 3285 movement in it. Maybe PC is jumping the gun on this, a real V4 should have the new movement.

The insert engravings look deeper and maybe slightly wider. Fonts are the same (bad 1 serif), 18 transition point is still wrong, 6 still has speed bump.
