Black dial for me as well. If the build quality is outstanding, I’ll probably order the Polar as well.Black dial due tomorrow.

cant wait.. from what I read, its probably the closest rep to gen for exp 2Im still patiently waiting for mine. Should be another 2-3 weeks.![]()
Hi Colin, is there any way to take a pic side by side for comparison? I wanted to pull the trigger either the polar or black dialAnd here is my new gen

Off the bat I can see a few differences but they are slight
The weight is practically the same when the same number of links are fitted
The lume dots, on the rep, have slight nipples but you can't really see them when the watch is on the wrist unless light hits them from a certain direction.
The black markers around the lume hour markers is slightly thicker on the gen but unless you put them side by side you wouldn't realise
The radial brushing, on the bezel, on the rep is really good and the black markers on the bezel are very good
The date is centred in the window but the magnification is slightly higher on the rep
The reheat is aligned perfectly all the way around and the engraving looks crisp
The bracelet and the clasp on the rep is excellent and the screws unscrew nicely unlike the gen, I think Rolex concrete them in.
Really excellent rep, much better then any previous explorer rep I've seen own the past

Thank you so much!! looks amazingHi
Here you go, gen on left, rep on right. don't look at the date windows they are both perfectly centred, its just the camera angle
I am really amazed at how similar these two are. There are differences in fit and finish, of course, but in the hand, or on wrist, unless you have the gen next to it you can't tell and no one else could either.
The dial printing and the magnification of the date are slight tell tales if you know what your looking for

Awesome watch, this makes it harder to choose between the black or white version!
what do you mean by time bomb movement? looks great! I actually own a black dial gen, but still want this for daily
Some of the older GMT clone movements were notoriously unreliable. The hour hand jumping mechanism’s spring was prone to breaking.what do you mean by time bomb movement? looks great! I actually own a black dial gen, but still want this for daily
got it.. thanks for sharing, certainly something to consider about before pulling the triggerSome of the older GMT clone movements were notoriously unreliable. The hour hand jumping mechanism’s spring was prone to breaking.
From what I’ve seen the DD3285 (exclusive to CF and not currently available in an Exp 2 size date disc) is very good. The vr/sh3285 found in the GMF v5 explorer 2 isn’t bad, although I’ve had one on my bench that had several parts break.
Overall looks very good, just a shame that they didn’t for the orange tone right. The only noticeable major flaw for my untrained eyes.

Interesting find. I personally think that thicker looks better on the insert. I also thought that the font on the rep looked crispier on the polar comparison above.
I think unless you flash it on social media, you will be fine wearing it without the anxiety of getting called out. hahaInteresting find. I personally think that thicker looks better on the insert. I also thought that the font on the rep looked crispier on the polar comparison above.
And like I said before, I wish they had nail the orange color…
Yes its too thick sticks outAnyone notice how big the Crown is on the Rep??
