GMF Day-Date 40mm Tungsten Heavy Version

just got an offer for the GMF tungsten heavy version WG meteorite with VR equipped from non td so its reality.
Waiting for QC

Only downfall it lighter than the usual tungsten version. It’s now 153g instead of 161g wish they could get it up to 200g

PureTime offers the 3255 on these as well. Costs $50 US dollars more.

The VR3235 is more $$$ because it's a copy of the rep movement (which is always more desirable). It does NOT mean it's more reliable than the copy of the ETA 2836.

Hard disagree that the 3255 is more desirable. A good clone movement has obvious advantages, including for franken projects and accuracy of function, but the 2836 works excellent on the DayDate without compromise to core function (it’s not exact down to the finest detail, no) or the visuals while also being an easily and cheaply serviceable, repairable, and replaceable movement with good reliability for the most part.

I think unless they can get the weight distributed thru the bracelet then it will still not feel right, it will feel more like a DSSD than a gold DD.

Is it just me, or does the case gold plating seem to be a different color from the bracelet gold plating. Could it be a Tungsten plating issue?

The chazing time website shows the ARF DD as 193.1 grams. That is phenomenal

I looked at chazing time again to see the other ARF gain weight Day Dates. It seems the yellow gold green dial weighs as I said above and is 193 grams, but the yellow gold black dial is 176 grams. Rose gold green dial is 178.

$688?! Plus freight charges??? Are they nuts? Not to mention ARF plated 316 SS and not 904. Glad I paid $375 delivered for my GMF v2.

I've heard rumours about the plating of tungsten on Daytonas not being great and is susceptible to flake off.

It’s on chazingtimes site, he has pictures of the watch on a scale. Heaviest I’ve seen so far.. others are 175gram or 225 with cnc gold

I think the way they did this is through a tungsten caseback alongside a tungsten ring inside the case that lines the movement. That is NOT a tungsten alloy case.
