Awesome! I've always loved vintage Rolex's more than the moderns, and I was just watching Goldfinger last night! Not the same watch, I know, but damn they're so sexy! Awesome build!

@369mafia I just. Built one of these myself from a JKF. Lots of fun but can’t find a good insert. How did you source these inserts?

how long you been building? LOL
Stop it immediately. You've already been warned. You opened a picture thread for your issue, use that one to make an articulate case and do not thread crap other places. This is very silly, you are not making any friends and with each post you lose any sympathy that may have been there for your situation. Last warning.

I figured Ill add further builds to this thread.

I just completed these two milsubs , one is spoken for , the other Is available

First one. the 1973

gen reference for inspiration.

My interpretation.

The insert fade got away from me a bit but it looks great in its own way. It really give it an hard worn appearance.

At first I wasn't crazy about the idea of the hands and dial lume not matching but once I got it together, it does feel make it feel like a true - tool watch. especially with a worn in nato.

aged the lume on the dial and hands to reduce the new appearance and give it an older look.
gave the dial a light dusting to give it a vintage texture.

a bit of shaping the inside of the cg
filled in the lug holes and spring bars in with solder
machined the underside of the bezel to give it a more gen esk shape
aged the case with some dings and scratches.
eta clone with 2 position setting lever

I like it more than I thought I would.

The second one. Still a few loose ends I want to address on this one but I like the tropical insert, the sun faded dial and warm almond lume.

I think I prefer this one sans bezel assembly on the bond nato.

Tropical bezel insert looks good to me! Nice work! Posted this in another 5517 thread, I have one of his dials and am pleased with it for the money, seems like a pretty good price for a full bezel set: https://www.ebay.com/itm/305474530744
Thank you

That is a fair price for the bezel assembly. Wont fit a raffles 5513 case but might fit their GMT Case sets.
