It's a HR stock with no mods... The dial is, or was, aged but by accident i wiped some paint off and after that, i washed all the paint off.
So now it's a plain dial...

Might as well add these here as well to keep it all together :
So a few weeks back, I was introduced to Wildman from another member. They are a custom design house that offers customization and custom builds and limited edition builds using modern Rolex. For those who want something different.

He asked if I could recreate the Wildman Milsub
Offered in a limited production of 10 pieces.

It has all the hallmarks of the milsub. toasted lume, sword hands and fully graduated bezel.

How did I recreate this masterpiece?

Raffles 114060 case
raffles milsub insert
raffles milsub dial
raffles eta milsub hands
Gen ETa 2824 with date function removed.
Raffles milsub case back. - sadly it didn't fit the modern case, but I suppose if one was inclined they could round over the case back and have it engraved with the standard milsub script. That would be the icing on the cake as even wildman didn't do that.

These are the results. pictured with my Vintage 5517 Milsub. build. I must admit. I like this piece alot more than I thought I would. I am a vintage builder as most of the modern pieces dont excite me much, but being able to add some elements from the past into a modern build, was alot of fun .

It was a fun project to work on , something a lil different. I thought you guys might like seeing it.

Thanks for your interest

@369mafia love the wildman sub mate, did you re lume the raffles hands and dial? The lume seems to match well.

This. I’ve got a Steinhart 5517 Milsub 39 and it bugs me that the dial and hands are miss-matched. Seen someone on WUS who’d matched them almond white like above and it’s gorgeous.

I’ll put up a pic of my almond white 5517.
It’s such a shame none of the stock hr or raffles hands match any or either of their dials.

THis pic was posted on IG . This is apparently the correct finishing on a 5517 milsub. The flanks of the mid case are also brushed. Apparently this is a refinished case because it was polished by a jewelry shop so they had to correct. it.

Has anyone else seen another example like this in factory original condition. every gen Ive seen has had polished flanks.

Brushed all over makes perfect sense, to make the watch as mat as possible to avoid any reflections.

If that were truly the scenario, why have chamfers? Why not have everything matte black and roughly rounded.

Not arguing. Only saying that avoiding all reflections couldn't have been the top priority.

This dealer refers to the finish on a Milsub as satin.....
