Unfortunately, none of my contacts currently own a gen or I'd do a visual and vernier comparison.
I have the gen if they want a photo comparison next to each other

We are basically comparing this $3000 watch with a base 3kf + mods which is about $1800-$2000 ?I agree, there are variations in gen. But this bezel needs work, the proportions are not correct. It's the best OTB i've seen so far, but it would still need a slight correction.
Overall this is a great release, but it would still need work like the 3kf. Just a bit less
The main difference is the movement. We are basically comparing this $3000 watch with a base 3kf + mods which is about $1800-$2000 ?
I’d say for that price I’d still get the 3kf + mods.
Do you think that 1 movement component and engraving demands that extra $1000?The main difference is the movement.
Haha, not. However, some might do.Do you think that 1 movement component and engraving demands that extra $1000?
I'll do measurements in various gen pics this weekend and report back. I'm curious, too.Can someone confirm this?
I’m looking at both my Nautilus and the bezel and crown depth are the same.
I 100% agree, i would rather start with a 3KF and do the mods, end result would be better, and probably less costlyWe are basically comparing this $3000 watch with a base 3kf + mods which is about $1800-$2000 ?

Based on this and what some other folks said above it seems like the Chinese are trying to do a cash grab with this watch as they have seen that we like to pay our modders to do the job. This surely will find its buyers and that fine. Free market, free people. But looking at the pictures on Chazing: Screws look damaged, Geneva stripes decoration as bad as any Chinese made, Perlage is bad, „gold“ plating is not on spot (with gen color), bezel proportions are still not correct (any gen) free sprung balance is hard to regulate and unsure how well regulated this would be delivered, and so on. This is just my opinion and of course I am gladly proven wrong. If you have 3K and like what you see, go for it. From a standpoint of quality, for me personally this is a no go because you’re now already in the range of 1/3 of a gen Calatrava as donor or enjoy as is. Just some thoughts but glad to see that they at least try to move into the right direction but I think the +2.3K would be better spend on finishing the existing 3KF clone.
Since you’ve done some crazy cool 5711 builds, would you revisit your build, but then add this new free spring movement with a gen rotor? No it looks a lot better
no, i don't really see any value in dressing up the movement. The frase "polish a turd" comes to mindSince you’ve done some crazy cool 5711 builds, would you revisit your build, but then add this new free spring movement with a gen rotor?
I can understand that point not really caring about the backside of the watch. Using a gen movement would be then only helping in the quest for the most gen-like-rep but obviously not because of the beauty of the movement. For me personally, „dressing up a pig“ would not apply because I buy gens and reps because I like them visually. Case, dial and movement alike. Therefore in many reps I am missing the meticulously work done on cases or dials when it comes to movements. I would very much appreciate a well finished 324 rep movement because I simply like the movement layout per se. I don’t care about free sprung for example because it’s rarely aiding in precision and hard to regulate, so even it’s visual appeal is rarely justified for me. I ordered a spare movement and will have it professionally finished in Switzerland. Maybe I post the pictures when it’s done so people may move away from the craze for cloning accuracy over to visual flawlessnessno, i don't really see any value in dressing up the movement. For anyone who knows what a Patek movement is going to look like, it wouldn't matter what you do to the clone, it will still look fake. For anyone who doesn't know what a Patek movement should look like, they won't be able to tell the difference either way. And personally i dont give a shit I never sit and admire the backside of my watch, gen or rep
The only thing i have ever considered is getting a Calatrava and transfer the movement over to a gen dial build, that would make sense to em, if we don't factor in the cost
I measured the top view "bezel/bevel" ratios of blue gen 5711s and ChazingTime (CgT) custom modded rep using pics of 8 gens (incuding a rendered one) and of the ChgT rep on my laptop monitor according to this scheme:I'll do measurements in various gen pics this weekend and report back. I'm curious, too.
So currently there’s no good 5711 dial?for me the most important thing is the color of the dial, and we are very far away with the reps with the exception of the 5712 sw v2 dial which instead is very close. I also think the proportions of the bezel and the crown in the right place are very important.
It would be less costly, but of course it would require more time and effort.I 100% agree, i would rather start with a 3KF and do the mods, end result would be better, and probably less costly
Email Chazing Time and ask.wow where can I get this moviment??
Do they sell the movement only without the rest of the watch?Email Chazing Time and ask.
