Some day ago I was talking with the future owner of the "Turquoise Caribbean" about which color that dial should be ...
The original Doxa caribbean is "Teal Blue" but we agreed on the fact that in the Caribbean the water is more "Aqua blue" while that of the Atlantic Ocean is more "Teal Blue".
Based on this discussion I searched for photos that compare the two colors and came across what I think is the perfect example ... an aerial view of Eleuthera.
For those who don't know Eleuthera is an island in the Bahamas located about 80 km east of Nassau.
The island is very elongated... 177 kilometers long with a maximum width of 1.6 kilometers ...
At one of the narrowest points, called "Glass Window Bridge", the bay of Eleuthera (almost the Caribbean Sea) and the Pacific Ocean face each other, separated only by a few meters of rock.
The picture below shows that the Caribbean Sea (on the left) is "Aqua Blue" and the Atlantic Ocean is "Teal Blue".
After a long moment spent looking at this picture I had an "enlightenment" ...
I litteraly "saw" a new watch ...
Name Code : ELEUTHERA
Dial background : 3 colors
- aqua blue on the left (caribbean sea)
- teal blue on the right (atlantic ocean)
- sand color between the two (glass window bridge)
Printings : 2 colors
- black on aqua and sand
- white on teal
This one won't exist in real life until next fall, maybe even later, but one day or another it will be on my wrist.
