Indian copies of Bergeon tools are fine to go for my layman needs - that don´t go beyond removing a rotor or swapping a movement/ mounting another dial. It´s what an Indian watchsmith in India would use, they are better than Chinese ones and cost 1/10th or 1/20th of what Bergeon (over-)charges.

Just my opinion. Once You start servicing movements etc. it´s something else.

Do you have a link to these Indian clones? Sounds interesting for those of us looking to start tinkering

Wow the price difference between the Bergeon and the Indian screwdriver set! 80£ vs 16£.

I learned a long time ago. When it comes to hand tools, you do not go cheap. I know that not everyone has money but trust me when I say that to save the money and get the right screw drivers and the right tweezers and the write hands replacement set. Maron I can give you a crap load of china tools that I have sitting in a box for $100 buck. They were probably over $300 new. I will give you screw driver kit and crystal press and tweezers and back removal tools. Problem is, is that you will strip the screws, The crystal press cracks crystals...you will spend more money than just doing it the right way. Great example is the crystal press. The Bergen one has a soft plastic insert on all the dyes. The china ones are just all aluminum. To look at them, they look the same. But flip them over. Year you can use a rag or something to go on top of the crystal, its just an extra step that you don't need to take. Get the best tools you can afford. When it comes to the screwdriver kit. Don't go cheap. Your going to regret it. When it comes to something your never really going to use, then yea I guess.

Only problem is that like any fun hobby, it becomes addicting ;)

Trust me Maron I have plenty of money and still want more stuff. I build one and want 2 more. I am on what I hope is my last two for a while. A 16800 and a 5513. I'm sure I will get the bug for another one. Thing is at the level of those builds it is crazy. I just got the bracelet for the 16800, found it in Australia on eBay. Its beat up but the clasp is a late 80's clasp with he proper end links but ended up costing $750 plus shipping. Got it today in the mail. Man did it have enough dry skin to cover a burn patient. Just kidding. After a few cleanings its still stretched and beat up. But in the 16800 the only thing that won't be Rolex is the case. I ended up ordering a phong case. Just waiting for him to come back from vacation. Any way. The point is, that even with money, you just spend more and want more.

I would like to be able to partake in the hobby in that capacity someday too. But it won't be for a few years. At the moment my wife and I are both full time students living on student loans with not enough income to break even each month. She should be done in three years and myself in four. Starting pay will be about $40, then I can play :) for now I need to choose wisely

That was my point. You are living on student loans. I am blessed and got to retire at a young age. My wife works making great money. But we both have this hobby. You spend what you can but the bottom line is that it is addicting and no matter how much you make, you always will want more watches.

Ahhh I get you now. Despite the fact that you have many frankens and several ongoing, and I've got very little ongoing. We are both feeling the same urge to get that "fix". No matter what I do or will have for pieces/builds it's always going to be driving me.......great haha

That's awesome. Only problem for me is the $$
Thanks! Yeah, I started out with cheap tools for basic tasks and they rusted, broke immediately, or damaged the watches. Built up slowly with better stuff. Of course it's grown to the point where I just got a vintage Seitz jewel press I can re-jewel a movement ;) So much fun!

Well said. When it comes to tools and destroying watches. Nothing does it better than cheap tools. Stupid things like screw drives becoming magnetized. Messes up your watch.

I believe if I recall correctly puretime has it listed as a v3 where as other dealers have it listed as a v4. The v4 is the latest version. I think puretime just hasn't updated their site. Don't cancel, puretime can get you the v4 just as any other dealer can. Just make sure to request it specifically and check your qc pics

Actually, I already got the QC pics from Puretime and I already told them it looks good and confirm shipping. http://imgur.com/a/EzFh7

Are they any different from what you have? or are the differences too noticeable that actually have to tell them? Thanks in advance.

Looks good to me. Would have been nice to see the crown, better shot of the pearl and a lume shot. But definitely looks good
