is that 20mm?
i cant find my calipers but holding a 20mm strap up to it i am confident yes. cant comment on bracelet taper as compared to gen or clean. everyone excited about clean 36 with correct size bracelet. i assume bp 39 was always correct and why no excitement or pictures of measured clean 39 bracelets

How do I explain it? BP isn't bad but it doesn't feel great either. It's difficult to describe "feel" but I just "feel" the bracelet and clasp is better made. Less wiggly and "tighter".

Mind you this is a 36 not 39 so it could be different.
thanks :)

Further thoughts :

The clasp is solid but doesn't close ever so slightly, leaving a tiny clasp gap, but honestly I can't notice it when on wrist.

The crystal doesn't have the Clean fogginess but does glare in bright sunlight when rotating it.

@Reaps thanks a lot for your first hand insights - that’s super helpful!

I see you have a 39mm explorer as well - how does it wear in size? I have a 18cm wrist and I am not sure, if the explorer might be too small. I am used to the 41mm datejust, but I am looking for something less dressy.

BTW Anyone got the 39mm clean yet and want to share their impressions?

Well you're lucky I also have a DJ41 from Clean, so here are some comparisons for you. I will post pics when I get home. They wear essentially identically.

I would not suggest 36 Explorer for you. The small size makes it dressier especially on big wrists. It already feels small on my 16cm wrist.

To conclude :
  1. It is small. It feels and wears much smaller than the Datejust 36, because of the narrower bracelet.
  2. The VR3230 winds smoothly and has no rotor noise.
  3. I don't think a deep crystal is necessary, the crystal is solid, Clean has gotten better.
  4. Bracelet feels much better than BP, it's great.
  5. Clasp is solid.
  6. Lume is like solid 6/10, it's not like a sub but it'll glow blue. But don't come in expecting amazing lume, the indices are small after all.
  7. Printing is great on the dial.
  8. Crown issue is not even noticeable on wrist. The thing is so small that you cannot tell the crown is off unless you have a loupe.
Overall, if you're on the fence. Get it. It's great. No need for V2. Great 36mm by Clean, fantastic stuff.

Let me know if you want any more pictures. I'll take some in sunlight tomorrow.
Wow I can't wait !

I ordered one with Sead (email got on RWI). I got my QC.

My friends gen glares in bright sunlight too. I'm pretty sure gens before 2020 or so don't have AR, and the newest only have AR on the underside. I think that goes for the entire rolex lineup.

Bonus is someone knows if there is a fitting glide lock available for the oyster or even the jubilee. I know it doesn't exist as per the original, I'm just a huge fan of the glide lock.

Do both have the same lug width? I'd be curious to see the Explorer with the jubilee.
its possible

the taper at clasp is wrong. submariner glidelock is too wide. at least on 12660. not sure about last gen, i think they were 21mm lug width instead of 22. explorer case is 20mm so sub bracelet wont fit watch either.

google says the new 40mm explorer I is 21mm lug width. so maybe you will get your dream someday of glidelock explorer :)

Thanks for the awesome answer! It's beyond me why non-glidelock still exists in Rolex, such a quality of life. Same goes for other watches, like the BB 58 not being updated either.

Do you know if any trusted desálele has stock for 39mm? Steve from "The one watch" tells me that there is no stock at the moment, but "trusty time" tells me that there is (I know he is not a trusted dealer).
