Just got the v3 insert in. It’s a beauty but it looks nothing like the MK3 in real life. The blue has a very different color and also the red different.

In doubt if i will replace the v2 for the V3
I suppose that you had gen in hands, so you think that V2 is nearest to gen?

I owned the gen. The blue is very different in outside light. V2 in my opinion could be related to mk2, which is rarely seen in the flesh. I am thinking about putting the V3 on, and see if I like it. Studio light is much different from outside light. The blue is off, doesn’t matter how you hold the watch. In this pic of my gmt, you see a blue that is never there with the V2 or V3. That being said: both inserts (v2 & V3) are beautifully made! I even dare to say, they look better than the original. It’s a matter of taste which one you like the most and enjoy wearing it. But if you’re looking for 1-1, i would say: buy a gen insert or get the V2 (which is just harder to match, since there are hardly any mk1 of mk2’s around).

V1, V2, V3, they're never going to be like gen, we're chasing the unicorn, pick whichever one you think looks best, to me this is Xing v5 or "V2S" of Clean, that's my favorite color, the "Pastel" red.

An anecdote, I took my V1 Pepsi on an outing with some of my friends who own the real Pepsi, noone could tell anything, gen owners don't even know that Rolex has 3 variants of the Pepsi. In day light with your wrist moving it's practically impossible to tell anything on wrist.

This movement can move the date backwards like gen or only forward?

I also think that the V2 inlay comes closest to the gen - but not MK2 as often written here but MK1 - because this version contains the most pastel colors. Furthermore, the V2 / MK1 also has more silver-colored numerals instead of the clearly whiter coating of gen MK2 and MK3

But that's actually nothing new if we go back 8 months and look at the first posts in this thread.

In the end, V3 and V3s (if the "s" version even officially exists) are also quite close to MK2 / MK3 - even if the blue tone doesn't match 100% in some lighting conditions - but hey, who wants to be able to judge that in real life.

You would really have to look at all Gen models with the V2 / V3 (+ "s" if they exist) under the same light. And that's certainly not going to happen.

Anyone here who decided to keep the V2 instead of the V3, having them both?
