Agreed. This mod is by no means a perfect match to the gen....but maybe a baby step closer compared to the insert OOTB.

Guys I had a CF that I had to get rid of due to getting another watch. I didn't think Id miss it as much as I do. I know recently the hands/lip were updated for the latest CF interation. I know Pepsi is a super popular model, do these updates happen frequently or just once in a while? I've not been involved in the rep game closely enough to know. I know that the GMF is up to v5 or something.
Wondering if I should just hold out. I was really happy with the CF pepsi already when I had it.

I had mine apart last night while doing the lip mod and tried the silver sharpie as well, and it didn’t do much at all.
I like the way the black changes to the mentioned maroon color. To me it’s a bit improvement.

Completed the underside paint mod last night using Restoleum satin black 2x ultra cover paint+primer (all in one paint). I think it came out pretty dang good. Just a shade darker outdoors...so a little closer to that inside light look in strong outdoor light. I removed ~1mm of paint from the top of the inner lip of the insert, which wasn't quite enough...so you can see a tiny bit of paint on the inner lip under strong magnification. It's not noticeable at all on the wrist so I'll clean that up next time I have the bezel apart. Also did the lip mod which is a must IMHO. Video link below.

Backside of insert after rustoleum spray paint applied. 3 coats: 1st very light, 2nd moderate, 3rd heavy. About 5 mins between coats. Then sat under fan for 24 hours to let cure.

Sorry in advance for the off topic since I'm gonna show two watches that are not from CF. But my point is: can CF learn from these two and do the insert color on point??
Left is a 126719 GMF with a completely crap insert (white paint on numbers and horrible transitions as well as no lip at all) but imo very nice case and flush SELs
Right is a (I believe) EWF (ER6Jxxxx serial) with a crap dial but imo AWESOME and very gen like insert (with a nice and not-so-thin or not-so-thick lip)
Both inserts' colors are better than CF to my eyes
If I didn't have a stock CF V1 already and some cash on the side, I'd really think of buying both and swap the bezels. Or even better, buy both, put the gmf bezel on the ewf, the cf bezel on the gmf and the ewf bezel on the clean...
If only the GMF insert was better.. I'd snap it on the spot. I told my dealer that if he can find a capable watchsmith to do the bezel swap, I'll get it.. You can see how better the colors are than CF on both pieces.. Both have the purple hue on the blue and the berry hue on the red compared to the "darkness" of the CF insert..

None of these GMT's are true 1:1 scale. So the inserts are doubt to be interchangable between each factory.

I was referring to the whole bezel assembly from a watch to the other. Can't that be interchangeable too?
I would say may not be fully too. If you have read about the construction problem of the CF bezel and it's turning ring, then you will understand

GMF V5 has updated their insert. It’s almost identical to clean. Some say they are the same.

Unfortunately I don't have more pics. I took these from a visit to my local dealer and I'm quite sure by now both are sold already..
