Cartier Santos 100 Toro specials $148

I just purchased the TORO special for $148... Santos 100.
I want to replace only the movement which is, according to Toro's site.. "MOVEMENT: Asian Eta 2824-2 Automatic Movement ,28800bph". With something a little more "quality" parts. Also a new crown that would work with the new movement.
I'm fairly new to the game so ANY AND ALL help is zoo very much appreciated. If someone could just tell me what movement to get>where to get it>and I found some replacement crowns on ebay if those would fit. I'll buy it.... I can just tell pulling the crown in/out its gonna break any second.

That should be a pretty good movement. You're probably best off waiting if/until it fails. If you feel compelled to replace with genuine ETA, it will probably cost about $200 for the movement.
TC is apparently planning to come out with a superclone 2824 next month...
THANK YOU for fast reply. It pretty much is failing already. It's a cheap rep part so it's not a huge surprise. Do you think the reps a little more pricey, say the $400-500 range already have better quality parts inside and should I just buy a new one... Or should I pick parts and rebuild this one I have

It's the second one you want, gen ETA (though I don't know what's up with that Thailand factory business.) The first is probably close to what you've got.
I'd definitely look at this: http://blog.tc-sub.com/2013/02/130-tc-2824-eta-2824-2-super-clone-part.html you could swap the canon pinion with the old movement if here was a problem with that.

What are people's view on the gem?
I have used a sharpie to darken it and looks good just seeing if any one will be changing the whole part

I think it's a bit to light in color.
Would love to see a pic of the one you darkened. Did you use a blue or black sharpie to darken it?
I used a black sharpie and due to the gem being a smooth surface it is almost like you want to apply a few layers letting each one dry out. Picture does not do it justice.
Guys, anyone got a spare Santos Non chrono 100XL strap? I want to get one so I could send it to Orloff for a custom strap for my Ultimate Santos. You can't make a custom without those plastic inserts that stick at the lug ends of the strap.
I got a gen off ebay for a very good price.. not worth going with Orloff in my opinion if gen could be had for the price I paid... ping me for seller details...
