@little I think this is a great question and all the foolish and half assed attempt to make fun of something you don't understand just shows your ignorance.

(NOT AIMED AT YOU...LOL)

I know we focus a lot on the 16610 that was first introduced nearly 30 years ago, I imagine there are a lot of jewelers that know exactly what tools to use, So I think you could honestly say "Brushed as per genuine" if you had the right person do it. I don't think what Rolex does is impossible for someone else to replicate outside of a Rolex service center.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular and I have seen some of the comically horrible work that people label "AS PER GENUINE"

I for one would love to know what type abrasive wheel/brush Rolex uses after that I think it could be fairly simple to at least rebrush a bracelet.

As for case lugs and bevels I think that might be a little more complicated but not at all outside of the abilities of some of our more gifted moders given the right tools.

@Thrasher I can tell you exactly what the watchmaker @ the Rolex AD where I used to work used - its the same as what I used when I was doing it for customers myself:

Its 3M micro-finishing film with 40 micron particles (the blue plastic sheets)

Its coated with electrostatically oriented silicon carbide particles - longer, thinner, harder and more brittle than aluminum oxide, so they remove material very aggressively at first and then the finish becomes finer as the abrasive 'beds in'... which is why the brushing appears layered.

I'm 90% certain thats the same stuff the Service Center uses if you send them off.

The technique takes practice but its very doable at home.

FWIW, I also used to buff out crystals and case sides. For that we'd use a bench wheel starting with 100 grit compound, move to a 300 grit then to a 400 to 600 grit. Nothing special, but again, it takes practice. They'd have me do Timexes before I got to play with the Rolexes (literally) :D

I used that for my watches because i found the right disk by bergeon.
I matched that brushing with my gen hulk and it seems the same.
I can tell you only that brush gen steel and rep steel it's not the same and you can't expect the same identical finish but very very close!

That's a perspective thing. I'm not saying their work isn't but you're disagree reads as saying Jon didn't do a good job. Which he did imo

You guys spend way too much time talking about nothing @Johnny Depp does incredible work, I think if you paid attention you would see I said that but you and your juvenile friends are to busy trying to bait me into some tirade about TC or Ginault or whatever.

Me and my juvenile friends? What are you talking about man. I said this looks really nice to someone who posted a pic of their brushing. I even told johnny more than once here, other threads, and in PM I really like his brushing also. Before you insert your foot in your mouth again in the future don't assume you know the intent behind words on the internet or lump people together. Can you show me where I mentioned a TC? Or are you saying everyone is against you and therefore are all lumped together as friends. I never even said anything negative about you. Apparently you're upset and lashing out like a juvenile.

No one is saying he doesn't do good work, just that its not necessarily per gen. There are lots of guys out there that can brush just as good or better and dont charge an arm, leg and first born
