Got my watch on Friday and I'm having issues with the movement (2813), while it's on my wrist its randomly stopping which causes it to lose like 5 minutes in 2 hours.
When I set the time(minute hand) the stem "loses Traktion" when I don't turn the crown slowly and turning the crown does nothing afterwards until I push it in and pull it out again.

Could the stem be getting lose inside of the watch and maybe stop the hands because it's in "hacking" mode?

Wrote Ryan an email already detailing the issue but thinking of just buying a replacement movement and trying to put it in myself since that was the original idea I had when buying the watch.

Thanks in advance, here's a pic of the beauty in the meantime.

Still waiting on mine. Tomorrow marks the 2 week mark from accepting QCs so I know that I'm getting close :) This is my first "new" rep in probably 2-3 years. Getting the butterflies again!

I haven't been posting in this thread for a while.

I just wanted to let people know that I will likely be putting my bpsd up for sale soon, there are plenty of details about it in this thread if anyone is interested just let me know. If/when the time comes I will be making a sales thread for it of course.

I'm curious, since TC has hung up his boots. What are the best options for hands now?

basically none for an ETA movement.

That was my fear. I know there was talk of earlier SDs being able to accept yukis. Then it seemed later on that they needed additional machining or other modding to be accepted. Anyone know if this is still true? Hoping mine arrives soon.

as far as I know they always needed and continue to need heavy modifications to accept a gen spec crystal as well as a 3135.

You're best chance is to find one that is already modified, or try to find a pair of TC hands(unlikely).

I came across the idea of using StarTime Tudor hands as an option as well. I think it was on one of the pages in the 600's haha!

I thought that Adrian said that they 16610 click spring wouldn't work in the BP rep? I was looking at those as well.

Still have yet to receive my SD but trying to get ideas ahead of time.

Sadly don't know, should have also written down on which pages I found the links but I skimmed through it more or less so no guarantees that everything is correct.

ado has always recommended a custom sized click spring due to the variances of the bp cases.

The genuine click spring 16600/16610 works, but you'll have to ever so slightly thin out the tip of the wire that goes inside the case hole. I did this with the sand paper, coarser first (400) then finish with 800 and 1200 for nice and smooth fitment.

Failing that, you could make one yourself from a steel wire of the right diameter, but make sure it's high-tensile as otherwise it will eventually bend back and won't "push" outward to the bezel teeth for that solid click feel.

The issue with the BP factory supplied click wire is that it's both too long and too thin, making the bezel feel wonky with underwhelming, loose-feeling 'clicks'.
Some tried to fix this (I tried this initially too) by just shortening the wire, it will work for first few bezel turns but the wire will eventually bend back towards the rehaut and the problem will still be the same.

Hope this helps, cheers.

Mate, I wouldn't push this as far as you're planning to, but that's just me. This rep is almost good-to-go off the shelf and spending so much on aftermarket parts wouldn't make it very economically viable or even recoverable during second hand sale on the rep forums one day down the road when you had 'enough' of it, and believe me that day will come, it always comes sooner or later. Take it from the guy who's been into rep game for 13 years now ;)

The only bits I would change (and I did on mine) are the bezel insert with better (thinner and sharper print) finish and better pearl and pearl ring on the bezel insert. This is one of the things on this watch that pops out to some of us who know what the gen Rolex bezel should look and feel. The second is bezel click wire. See my comments in the post above.

The case is great overall, the crown guards are as close to perfect as you'd get on these classic and vintage Rolex models that come with thinner CGs. The tips on the CG are a little thinner than they should be, true, but when on wrist, you don't see it.

Hands are also good to go, no need for replacing those. Dial is also well done and made, crisp and correct print overall, centered correct shape markers.

My concerns are however with two things -
One - lose bezel, even for the recent purchases, some members reported on other forums their bezel was so lose that they could pop it off the case by a single push of a finger at 9 o'clock. Mine happens to be fine, but there's still quite a bit of play, up and down...this tells me there are some minor factory tolerances in play here, but you have to keep this in perspective - BP factory was never known for producing top-grade stuff, over the years it was mainly good-enough and decent.

Second - the crown. Many have received their BP SD in the past that came with nickel plated crown made of brass. Aesthetically not an issue, but functionally, on a long run - it will become an issue as you have soft-metal brass-made crown threads rubbing against a hardened carbon-rich crown tube threads - a perfect recipe for stripped crown threads. My original V1 BP SD came with brass crown, the new one I got few months back it's S/S made, so all good as it seems. There seems to be however still few of those older version BP SDs with these two issues with the dealers so caution is advised when ordering.

I posted my thoughts on the latest BP SD iteration in this post few months back...hope it helps some still sitting on the fence:

Forgot to add above...the bracelet that comes on the latest BDSD version is much better than the one which came on my old BPSD. The SEL is very gen like, the mid hump is flat and almost flush with the sides, clasp comes with better defined crown stamp/imprint as well as more defined and crisp stamped Rolex logo and wording on the internal folding parts.

Lume is also better, not super duper but comparable with the gen (I own gen 16610 Sub and it's almost identical).

Many people commented on the crown, I cannot for the life of me fault it. It's again better than the brass one I owned in the past on V1, now has better teeth definition (sharper) Rolex crown relief is more pronounced - overall great, defo need not replacing ;)

Thanks for the long response! I fully agree, it is just a list of replacement parts if something breaks / if I upgrade the movement on mine.

How is the date alignment? I bought a BPSD about 2-3 years ago with a highbeat 2813 movement and it was off center for most dates. Ended up selling it before sending it over to a modder and getting it re-aligned.
