Has anyone used a 2892 as a replacement for the 2824? 2836 is cheap and reliable but time setting is wrong. Since the yuki/SH movements are garbage, best way to go is 2892 if you want correct stem height and time setting.

Any experience?

The plan is to cut the gen gasket to the required height.

I've made the measurements and everything fits just right and imo can be pressed together.

Another plus is, that nylon gaskets can be glued together using a heat gun to ensure a good bond between them after pressing.

Again this might fail but i'll try it anyway.

WOW !!! Perfect !!!
That is GREAT and the way I like explanations ... easy to understand by everybody no matter one's practice level in English language.
Unless the person is stupid of course [emoji39]

BTW ... as you will have to keep the 2 gaskets together while pressing the crystal, wich will not be easy even if they are "glued" together, you could try putting the crystal/gaskets assembly in a freezer for several hours before pressing.
The portion of a mm gained thanks to freezing will help to put everything right in place.
I tried that method with a 16610 which crystal's gasket was a little too thick and it worked perfectly.

BTW 2 ... I personnaly would not use an hair gun to glue the gaskets, because you could end with a permanent deformation of those gaskets.
I'd better use some Hypo Cement ... wich was, if I'm true, designed to glue watch crystals to watch cases [emoji3]

Thank you very much. I don't think pressing the gaskets together will be a hard thing to do. What i plan is to leave the bp gasket on the case and press the gen crystal with the gen gasket mounted on it.

So since the bp gasket will be firmly held in place by the case and the the gen gasket by the crystals bottom edge i hope all will go smooth.

Thanks for the freezer tip. I think i'll just do that.

A potential risk would be not to crack the gen's crystal groove on the bottom when pressing. That's exactly the portion of glass that sits on the case.

You must be aware that the gasket/gasket friction factor should be higher than crystal/gasket or gasket/steel.
But the compacting, even minor, of the "crystal+gen gasket assembly" after freezing could help a lot.
Using this method I've been able to press tight fitting crystals by hand (without a press) so the risk of cracking the crystal is reduced.

I even used the freezer/oven method for a steel/steel assembly [emoji3]
Rehaut in the freezer for 4hours / Case in a tepid oven for about 30 minutes / Pressed together by hand ... Now my Silix 6538 case has a "gen-specs" rehaut [emoji39]

Great! I'll try that. I hope i don't break the crystal. These are not easy to come by.

Hi Ado,

Here is a 1993 gen:

Do these scallops look broached or milled ? Because if those are broaching marks then that's where the confusion came from. Still pretty confident though that many 6 digit bezels scallops were milled. Thx

Just arrived...fantastic! My dad will be very happy!
With rubber, the bezel is just less a “toy” than before, because the rubber breaks a little bit the bezel!

Ado, if it bothers you, you can amend it clicking on a different symbol. :)
