We were going to put in a rnrprof 2x ar crystal but it scratched all to hell, then Adrian tested it with a hardness tester and it failed miserably, so its back to the WSO.

I really have to give Adrian the best recommendation I have ever given anyone, He has worked so hard to make every detail of this watch both beautiful and efficiently functional. ado213
What!? It came scratched? It failed hardness? So are you worried about the crystal going in your tc's or did you just get a bad one? Please elaborate

rmurphy37 take your time do a lot of reading it all comes down to how gen you want it to look....the BP SD hands don't match the dial in lume so if that bothers you TC hands and dial are a perfect match. Bracelet is kinda crappie so TC has a good one with better sell fit.....a gen crown is way better then BP so it all depends on what bothers you about the watch. But the BP overall is one of the best you can get out of box. Most people will not be able to tell the difference. Just enjoy as is until you are ready to upgrade or something breaks.

Well I misspoke on what I bought. I purchased what I believe to be is a noob version 2, as told by the seller. I paid $190 bucks for it. It doesn't look terrible, well packaged but did say hadn't had any issues. I can't get it to wind. Could be as simple as the crown or a shot movement. I wouldn't mind the Asian movement, I'd just want it gone through and running well. I'd like to change the second hand to a red one and I'd like to wear it on a curved end link leather and I'll probably get a genuine crown and I'd like my bezel to work a bit more like genuine.
Most important to me Is that it runs well, aesthetically good and I'd like as affordable as you can ask for. Could I do it myself? lol
I've messaged two people, I hadn't heard back yet. I wish I knew really who made it but then I'll let the more learned here help me out. When you shake the watch you can here the movement Rick back and forth. Here it is:

I Already installed some new Rolex Spring Bars and gave it a bath.

It is running and keeping time with my DeepSea, so maybe a rebuild and a few other things. I wanna have something trustworthy. Waterproof and looks genuine enough.
IM OPENMINDED- not mad at all its just now my project, red second hand and a jubilee and a leather strap song be able to mount the buckle.

No it didn't come scratched but it scratched very easily when Adrian pressed it in, so out it came and he tested it, I believe the crystal itself and the application of AR was substandard. Garyb assures me the Swiss double AR crystals are durable. I'm not worried about the TC crystals. If I put a 2x AR crystal in the SD it will be installed by steve. I know double AR works because I have it on my VAC BK DSSD and that has not a scratch on it well after a year.

Thanks for the link. I've read these articles and I'm still a bit lost. I'd like to find someone to be able to do the work, maybe I should just resell the submariner for really cheap price to someone and put that money towards the seed oil or maybe that's my better move. A new one?

lmao sorry man you are losing me here. Who did you order that cheap submariner from? Did you ask for a classic seadweller (bpsd) and get that? What is "seed oil"? Well those articles have nothing to do with a ceramic submariner so they don't apply to your watch, this thread is for the classic seadweller, do you wnat one of those? We all love them. Keep in mind they are tiny compared to a ddsd

I intentionally bought the watch, I was following the thread because I do own a very nice DeepSea and was looking for a good Sub. Sorry to confuse things. Nuances can sure get lost in text.

You can do the platinum paint mod yourself or see if VAC will do it. If you like the look of the watch compared to others thats all that matters.

rmurphy37 what you have there is a ceramic sub 116610 not sure version, maker or quality. You can get vaccum to do everything you want, new movement, new crown, serviced movement, red seconds hand, You can do the platinum paint mod yourself or see if VAC will do it. If you like the look of the watch compared to others thats all that matters.

I'm sending it back to him and taking the high road and he only has to refund me $150, I'll take that money and try and save and buy a nice SD.

How much would I be sinking in the watch?

I wouldn't spend any money on that watch to be honest, I think it's a pretty poor example. I think you'd be very happy with a bpsd for $255 shipped. Or if you like the ceramic sub you could get a noob v5 for cheaper now that the v6s is out. If you want to spend $358 go for the noob v6s.

My point is it would take a lot of money to get that sub looking good. Wrong bezel paint, bad pearl, bad cyclops.

I'm returning it! I'm sorry I disrupted the thread, I made a mistake based upon what I had bought first. Thanks for all of your guy's help.
It's a bitch when the newbie has a dyslexic moment. I'm shipping the POS in the morning. Here's my DSSD

Just giving you a hard time, its good to learn the genuine model numbers and attributes of the particular watch your interested in.

Maybe some pros can help me out here... I recently got a BPSD w/ TC parts and a gen insert. It's not a flat 4 insert I believe. To my understanding, most gen SD's with lug holes came only with a flat 4 insert didn't they? Or am I wrong here? I've been trying to find this out for a while now.. I'm wondering cause this looks just like my watch, but it has lug holes and I want them!

Yes, most of the Lugholes had the Flat 4 and these are very rare to find as Rolex replaced them with the pointy 4. So whenever these watches would go for service Rolex would replace them. So finding a Gen Flat 4 in good condition is quite rare.

Thanks Sub!

Another thing, the picture listed above is a watch for sale on chrono. I noticed that watch has the dial that looks just like the TC one that is in mine. It is the only one I've seen with that dial and lug holes after hours of searching.. so, did Rolex offer a certain serial with that dial and lugs?

Here is my dial:
