I really want to get a classic SD, they're just great looking watches but I know what's gonna happen when the mods start piling up..

The V2 116600 is fantastic out of the box, and you can't really mod it anyway. It lacks a certain panache that the classic SD has though

What mods should i make?

I would build a BP Sea Dweller using a BP case, NEW Swiss ETA movement from Otto frei, Genuine insert, Genuine crown and WSO tube, TC hands and Dial, TC Bracelet, TC Date Wheel Overlay (DWO) V4, I would send the case to @ado213 in England and have him cut the case for a genuine specification crystal and have him install the crystal. https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/sh...h-generic-Xtal, I would have @Tagfan1shape the case and install everything doing the final assembly.... But thats just me.

Thrasher, those mods truly make the rep much closer to gen, but are really deep pocket mods.

I would still just recommend TC or Clark hands and leave it at that, especially since the watch purchase itself is at the top end of your budget Yoshi, I would even suggest living with it stock for awhile and see if you feel it necessary to mod it at all.

If you feel that you then want something closer to gen sell the SeaDweller and buy a TC Submariner 16610 for $550-$600 which is less then you'd have to lay out for parts and and watchsmith to execute the mods on the BP.

Great tip! This seems like such a great out of the box starting point as is, and the sky really is the limit with regards to what you can do.

Do you guys think the BP SD can get to the same level of greatness as the latest TC V6 with the KH dial and new insert? I'm just wondering, dollar for dollar, which is the better piece if you could only choose 1?

Edit: I see you already mentioned some of this! [emoji1]

I saw very little difference in the TC dial and hands with the newer BP dial. The lume is pretty much the same and unless you're looking through a loupe there's not much difference in the dial. I'd just do a little work on the crown guards and put in a gen insert and call it done. If the crown starts to get flakey, as they are known to do, put in a new gen crown and WSO tube.

I ended up selling my BPSD with TC dial and hands and kept my old modded SSD with the BP dial and hands swapped into it. Even kept the clone movement and let the ETA movement go in the BP model. It seems to keep just as good time and it "takes a licking and keeps on ticking" at work using every thing from Sawzalls, hammer drills, to chipping hammers. Plus they were both very beach and pool friendly.

Spending $600 or more modding them doesn't make much sense to me. You don't really get that much more bang for you buck on these particular watches since they're so nicely made out of the box.

Out of everything I said the one thing i like the most is a genuine spec crystal at the proper low end of stock spec height, It just bugs me that the crystal is that .5mm to high, yes i look at my watches with a loupe, I'm just a bit crazy..... KBH is right on though the damn thing is awesome bone stock...

I would not wear any watch while using a sawzall...:crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::crazy::angryshout::w00t::pumpkin::thrasher::flag::weirdo::rollingonthefloor::daffy:
