When are they going to release a new version of a GMT 1675? Like seriously is it that hard for any factory to get it right?

It is, but you won't get that dial. Current batch is this dial, despite what the pictures or the TDs tell you.

The "frogfoot" coronet as muiramas nicknamed it, lol.

It was actually used on one gen dial, the DSSD MK1 dial but never on any GMTs. Ribbit!

Yeah, that frogfoot looks weird when it's as big as a fingernail on screen!

But as you said in your review, the pro's of this one seem to magically outweigh its cons - Its still my favourite rep at the moment, and also one of the cheaper ones I've bought.

Well, mine is already here. Pretty amazing rep on its own, and truly outstanding if you think its price is around half the price of any top tier Submariner.

I had to do a couple of tweaks, though:

1. Realign the dial as it was a bit weird positioned and the date window was crooked against the cyclops.
2. Soak the bracelet with lubricant, leave for a couple of hours (classic on BPs).
3. Opened case back and greased the gasket. I noticed that if I press the holding screws too much the seconds hand gets stuck against the dial, but I won't risk taking the movement off. I screwed too many DG2813 keyless works to try again.
4. I'd like to realign the bezel insert but I can't take the insert off and don't want to force it. Does anyone know a trick to get this done, please? Plus, do you know if the insert is pressure-fitted or just glued.

All in all, really amazed so far. That crystal screams gen, and the date don't is amazing. Hands look really good too with good polishing and reflections. SELs could be better, but being BP it coul be waaay worse too, so I'm happy with it (although any hint would be appreciated -I can confirm it doesn't accept gen spec springboard, by the way-). The stem feels a bit too short, though, as sometimes gets to the second position right from unscrewing it, but not a problem at all.

Check some pics, mixed natural light and some artificial, sorry for the low quality photos:

Quite a nice looking piece bro! It looks very much like the one I reviewed, just with a different movement and CHS. SELs look very good!

The insert is glued on with these BPs, the bezel is not gen spec but has the octagonal wire. I had a b1tch of a time getting one off recently, no fun at all.

You best bet to get the insert out safely is either heat it with a hair dryer or remove the crystal and pry it up from underneath. Either way the movement should really come out as heat is not good for watch oils, it will dry them out.

Crown should be in winding position for removal and replacement on a DG. Push the release button down for both.

Hey mate, thanks a lot, appreciate it. I have just read your post and I might give it a pass, ha. I mean taking off the bezel, just nope. I might take the crystal off and try with a 3mm gasket so the hands have more clearance and I can better secure the movement. That is if the gen-spec crystal gasket fits (is from a sub, so you never know).

Is it very difficult to take the crystal off? I usually put one of the crystal press dies inside the case and gently tap with a jeweller's hammer. But on normal Submariners you have to take the bezel off first, not sure about how is the assembly of this strange breed...

You really have to take these crystals off to even get the bezel off, and they pop off easily in a press.

The crystals are not gen spec. They are 30.5mm instead of 29.5. I'm going to put a gen spec one on mine but that involves using 2 gaskets. The stock gasket is very short, so you have to shave the 2nd one down to match it. I did this already on another LF Sub, it had the exact same arrangement.

I glued the gaskets together with clear epoxy. All that really did was keep them from popping out away from each other while pressing the crystal in. Tried that first, it was comical.

Rep crystal on right

I looked for thicker gaskets but couldn't find one. The one that came with the gen spec crystal plus the original were perfect together so it made sense.

You could actually get a taller 30.5mm gasket and end up with more height by shaving them down less. But as you can see in the profile pic above where I used the crystal die to hold the two gaskets together while curing, there is not much of a case wall there to hold the gasket against the crystal.

Also something IDK for certain on these DG3804 CHS rep is if the date window is in the Rolex position. I tried to tell from your pics but 1mm is hard to tell for sure. The answer would come from seeing if there is a DWO or not. It does appear to be gen spec from what I see.

Is there any big and visible difference wether its 316 or 704 steel? I have the 704 noob but nothing with 316 to compare.

Rehaut alignement seem a bit off on GMTs though otherwise they look good.

I have many 316L steel watches and I got a rolex explorer from BP 904L steel. you can tell the difference in color in the steel. the 904 is more whitish ever so slightly. and the 904 is much more scratch resistant. You know in the olden days that was one of the tells of a fake rolex. if it looks too scratched up its fake. I know a real one CAN get super scratched but it was just a general rule back in the day.

Now I modified the 904L steel. and man it is more scratch resistant. so many times my hand slipped and the lugs and caseback look perfect still. when i do that on my Gen 316L seikos they scratch up so easy. So thats just my personal experience with the materials. I will stand by and say its worth the upgrade.

It's been discussed and proven several times here that you can't tell 316 and 904 apart. If one looks more whitish it's due to the polishing/brushing

I'd put money on it that the Chinese don't spend a penny more making 904 steel than 316. Maybe they add something different to make it appear a little whiter but it's a big selling gimmick IMO.

Minus 20 seconds or so, but I haven't adjusted it yet. Will take a look at it later this week. I'd like to improve the SELs though, as it feels a bit bulky compared to my Ginault.

It's all right no? Maybe just needs a service to run faster, what do you think?
