I received yesterday this BP 16710 Pepsi, let me review it a bit here.
Got the watch from a non-TD here.
1rst : I'm no pro, this review is more based on feeling than technic.
2nd : the watch actually has a problem with its 2813 movement, I'll get to it at the end of this post.
3rd : of course there are pictures! At the end of my little review.
This BP watch looks and feel quite nice honestly, and pricewise these series seem definitely to be beaters. But there's always a but...
My "pros" :
- Very nice bezel, the colors and numbers are quite good and close to gen.
- IMO beautiful dial : deep even black with nice markers, hands are ok. Reading time feels visually great. Well done by BP.
- The clasp feels a bit light but it looks good, firm hold.
- Nice crystal and good cyclop.
- Date font is allright and centered.
- Everything on this watch is well aligned.
My "cons" :
- Turning the bezel gives a sloppy feeling, with cheap clicks. Better not play with it.
- Bracelet feels cheap. Although I read gen can feel a bit tinny sometimes, I think a good oil bath will help, even maybe switching for a better quality one.
- Caseback is too fat.
- Crown feels rough, and the different setting positions feel quite loose. Hour hand setting is a bit unprecise and the whole movement gives a uneven feeling and feels fragile. Which gets me to the problem encountered with it...
Movement : it's a 2813 CHS, setting date is done by moving hour hand, so in 2nd position.
When I got the watch yesterday I winded it about 30 times. No problem so far.
I set the date (by passing dates forwarding them) then the time, didn't do anything for GMT yet. I then wore the watch for about 2 hours. The watch keeps great time, I'm happy and put it on my winder for the night, which is set for 5 hours turns back/forth, rest for 9 hours.
This morning I saw date flipped without problems, but the watch had stopped around 0h45. One gentle shake and it started again.
Ok then... Put it back on winder, gone for the day, and when getting home now it is stopped again. Shaking it, it starts again as nothing happened.
When shaking it close I can hear bits moving, and as the watch seem to stop and go by a snap, I guess there might be a problem with the rotor.
Any opinion anyone?
