Sounds awesome mate, is there a reason why you can’t just use the VR3185? Maybe easier and you could find hands very easily, that’s what I did. I found long tube hands hard to get at all. If he has a laser welder you could just move the crown tube hight up a bit to suit the VR3185. Not sure how much penetration the laser welder is capable of which may cause an issue when re-drilling for the new tube location.

Would love to see some photos of the laser weld process he’s using. I assume he’s welding in a new rehault?

I can't say I've ever seen ETA long tube 5 digit hands other than the second hand, which I've always used from reps or gotten from Raffles time. You could look there for hour/minute/GMT. I've also gotten 1.8 GMT hands from Raffles time, but not long post.

Can't you just use taller pinion hands wheels?

Longer tubes from other hands can be mated to short pinion hands, I've had to make those repairs a few times. Locktite can be used, epoxy is even better. It takes some care but it's nothing any competent watchmaker can't accomplish.

This is a great Idea, I should of thought of a rep movement with CHS since we are moving everything around. Is the VR3185 generally considered the most reliable of the rep GMT movements. Good thing is Adrian works on tons of rep movements odd he didn't already think of this....I will talk to him tomorrow, UK to California time difference you know

VR3185 is indeed the best true clone rep GMT movement available now. Using one in a BP case will likely require some re-milling of the inside case grooves that surround the movement, and repositioning the tube hole.

this may be the case, not sure if the BP case is the same as the one I used but I put a VR3135 straight into a 2836 case no worries... no need for movement spacers and tabs lined up perfect. Just had to weld and drill for the the slightly higher crown tube position.
when I measured the BP crown tube position to dial seat it was pretty much 2.50 and my VR3185 was 2.55 with dial on the movement so almost the same. It was hard to measure so could be slightly off, there’s something not right about the orientation of the BP case it’s like the dial seat is also too low in the watch so even if you re-drill fir correct stem hight the crown position still looks very low in orientation to the case in comparison to the genuine. Maybe the BP case is thicker? I’ll have to check. Could also be the reason for the fatter caseback.

I know what you mean about the BP stem and crown position. Here are some pics re-posted from my review. Even the BP CGs are slanted downward to better cover the crown.

MQ got back to me gen spec Viet case $1000. I ordered from tsyeo4 a VR3185 fully serviced with gen 660 module installed and from another source I ordered a new Gen crown and tube. So now things are moving. Lots of great GMT threads on this forum.

did you see that the VN 16710 case takes a 6020 tube and 600 crown? (Assuming MQ is pushing the same caseset...)

Nope but I'm not using the MQ case ado213 is welding and remachining a BP case for me that will support gen crystal, gen spec bezel, gen dial ,gen insert and get us close to gen spec crown height position. On the VR3185 I will put a gen DW.....This is the plan at least

I’ve been lurking in this thread for a bit and that’s what I thought you were doing. Your last post made it sound like you pulled the cord on it and went to the VN caseset.

I’m anxious to see his work when it’s all said and done!

So after looking at eBay and Chrono24 for Genuine or aftermarket 16710 hands. Prices Range $24 for WSO and $300 to $900 for Used and new Genuines...Some of the so called new had obvious wear and age. I thought of one other source who has built watches for me in the past and lucky me a complete new set $315...This is an incredible deal.
So now after many months this project is really moving forward. KJ2020 mnkoshka
