Have been neglecting mine and remembered I had a all black bezel provided kindly by @bowtiefanatc when I bought this one from him.

Hate to admit it, killer combo.

When you say mode the bezel? How do you mean? Ive been looking at a gen spec complete bezel assembly and insert. It does away with the crappy click wire, in favour of a proper bezel retainer proper click spring and then bezel ring and insert. the only thing Im unsure of is if it will fit over the current crystal. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164214024470 Just didnt wanna blow the money if there is no chance at all!
After muting the little bit of the chamfers so they are hardly noticeable the only bug I have is the bezel slack due to the way the bezel ring is just secured by the click wire which is hit n miss.

BP case isn’t gen spec. You can’t fit at all this retainer and bezel assembly on 16710 from BP.

If the bezel is not made to gen spec - what about the aluminum red/blue ring? Any mods needed for the gen insert to fit?

Where is everyone buying their inserts from that fit this watch 100%? Gen or rep please share as I would like coke, pepsi and all black so I can swap them when I want.

It should take a gen bezel insert without too much trouble. There are plenty of posts in this thread where someone added a gen insert.

Here are a couple of cheap ebay ones that fit:

I like the colors on Clark's better.

Gen dial is a bit small compared to BP dial. BP dial it’s a bit bigger for gen specs case and doesn’t fit without mod
Lukko, I’m aware you built a good handful of these franken 16710/16570s. If the BP dials need shaving to fit a gen-spec case, do you happen to know where one could find a high quality aftermarket dial and handset that would drop in?

Unfortunally the BP 16570 it’s actually out of stock and was the only valid aftermarket 16579 dial imho (of course need shaving dial feet and glue work because it was 2836 dial and not 3186 dial).

About 16710 the only decent 16710 dial still also in this case the BP version. Actually you can get the enteire watch or spare dial if you have a friendship relation with dealer.

You can choose if remove a bit of the internal diameter of the case of from the dial

I like the colors on Clark's better.

Here's my 16710 with Clark's insert. I like the deeper blue and this shade of red when compared to the WSO and BP inserts.

Someone asked about instructions on how to replace the insert so here's what I did. I read through this thread and decided I don't want to remove the bezel and attempt to detach the insert only instead.

I used some gorilla tape to pull the old insert but wasn't able to get it all the way out but just enough so it moved up closer to the crystal and from there used an exacto blade to detach it. I managed to put a couple of nicks in the old insert so it's probably unusable at this point but whatever... :)

The Clark's insert is 0.1mm ish larger in OD than the BP insert so initially it didn't want to go in. Maybe with the bezel detached I would have had a better chance to press it in. So, shaved the outer diameter a bit with some 600 grit sandpaper and I was able to press it in after a few rounds. For the shaving part, thanks to a tip from the BP 16610 thread, I placed the insert on a beer bottle and used a wood spatula with sandpaper while rotating the insert and checking every two-three turns for fit.

Just got my BP 16710. It looks awesome. I have 2 questions for you gurus around here.

1) The bezel rotation feels very gritty and not smooth. What is everyone doing to rectify that? New click spring or something else and what click springs are you guys buying to make the feel better?

2) The VR movement sometimes feels like it cant engage the right position or gets stuck or has some resistance when screwing down like all the cogs are not aligned. I actually used to own a gen 116710LN and i remember even the gen movement having some issues like this and similar feeling. Is everyone feeling the same?

Cheers

The bezel is held on by a click wire inside the bezel ring, and there are 2 little springs that perform the click if you look further back on this post you will see my pics. The movement may be out of line and so the crown and pin might be not engaging or releasing, easy tell is if the dial is not quite aligned.

Can confirm that the bezel rotation feel is pretty shitty. Otherwise, it's not bad 😊

Where are you buying these spare parts to make the bezel rotation feel much nicer? Its pretty bad from factory actually. LOL

I'm surprised not many ppl are complaining about it. I'm pretty sure all of them feel like mine and yours.

I'm not upset about the bezel rotation- mine is ok. I'm actually pretty happy with the watch- been wearing it for a month. Earlier this week I visited my watchmaker on another matter and while talking we got on to my new rep- the BP16710. We put it on the timegrapher and it was high 200s and 6-8 secs slow. He demagnitized the watch and lo and behold it was over 300 with amplitude and only 2 seconds slow. Been running great ever since.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to trim the insides of the cgs w/o removing the case tube.
