If I were you I wouldn't even go back to him to have it fixed even though it's a super easy job. It seems that he is working in a very dirty environment and couldn't care less...

I've also noticed slight marks on your insert - probably done by the dies when pressing as he didn't remove the bezel.

I would however recommend you to get in touch with Domi (in DE) or red1 (UK) unless you could do it yourself :)

Who is domi? I‘m from Germany haha.

I know he has done it. He removed the back and the movement and then he put it on his machine and pressed the new xtal in. I don’t know anything about that so I thought that’s how it’s done. But can you show me the marks I don’t see it ? In RL I don’t See Marks.

Damn that sucks! I hate it wait I get a piece back and find a speck of dust or dirt under the crystal. It drives me so nuts that usually I just clean it myself. it should be easy enough to pop off the back, remove the crown and stem, and drop the movement+dial and out together. Then clean the crystal from the inside and put it back together.

Just learn how to remove and insert the stem and you should be good to go.

How hard/easy is that? I have really no experience and I‘m scared to destroy the movement or crown/stem

You would also need to close the caseback correctly for waterproofing. If you don't have the tools, maybe get in touch with Domi ;-)

Zzf v2s with gen crystal is amazing! But do you think is it really essential to mount an gen crystal?

It’s a basic skill any one of us should learn. Issues can arise, such as a botched keyworks, but nothing that can’t be fixed. Watch some YouTube vids and read some posts on how to do it for your movement. We don’t need to discuss it at length here. Good luck mate!

The guy is an idiot. There is absolutely no reason to touch the movement or even take the caseback off to swap the crystal!!

He has clearly re-pressed the bezel using a die that has no cut out to allow for the raised pearl.

Going slightly off topic, but still related to the watch, I have a few questions about the serial number. It is my understanding that gen rolexes serial number have a letter followed by 6 digits, engraved on the rehaut at the 6’oclock position. Sorry I don’t have a gen sub, but someone correct me if I’m wrong.

The ZZF V2S I ordered has ‘X7L’ followed by 6 numbers. The fact that the rep has the wrong number of characters makes it an easy tell for anyone who looks right? I suppose this is a good thing because it acts as a ‘safety’ mechanism to prevent people from trying to sell a rep as gen?

I use a case opener to remove the bezel assembly and a vice type clamp to remove the retainer and then replace the crystal, new gasket and retainer using a metal shim I’ve made to press the retainer into position using Rolex bezel dies and then press the bezel back by hand as that is all that is required.

This is not accurate, at least for my 2018 gen. My gen's serial number is 8 characters long. 4 numbers, followed by a letter, then a number, a letter, followed by a number. So it looks like this:

####x#x#

I'm sure there has been different reiterations throughout the years so probably not every year is the same.

I probably will tomorrow. Funny is that he doesn’t respond me now after I sent him pictures. And the pearl well he said „that’s a replica that can happen, not my fault“. Never thought swapping crystal is that hard. And before that he told me he can switch my dial to GMF with the markers from ZZF.. lol my dial would have been destroyed completely

Don't use this guy. He is acting out in a passive aggressive manner and likely damaged and/ or left your crystal dirty on purpose. No watch smith is this neglectful. He has a problem w you.

So guys I will go to Domi on Tuesday. Very fast response! The only issue is that he lives 320 km away but honestly it’s okay for me. I‘m sick with that. Before Hulk I had 2 Daytona’s and wanted to send them a watchsmith and they got stolen by dhl and now this bullshit. So I now go to domi even it’s far away.

Why not send it? Saves you a huge trip.

Because I wanted to send 2 Daytona’s (ARF and noob) to a different watchmaker (but far away) and DHL stole both. I will never again send a watch.

I‘m sick of that. First the stolen Daytona’s and then after 4 months of wait (because of CNY and corona) the hulk but then the watchsmith „ruined“ it. So the 320 km trip is worth for me

You are the right person to ask what is crystal ring and where its located on the watch? Is it same as crystal gasket or smt else?
