Not true

Color in the is always the same all over the years of production of the model. Never changed.

There is not 3, but 4 “versions” (mark 0, mark 1, mark 2, mark 3) of the gen hulk.


(Understand for “version”: minimal changes that usually people doesn’t care/see like -spacing between = 300 m and the position of the X about the D (of date) less than a milimeter, or a slightly elongated “F”- but under a macro you call them a “tell”)

IMO this ZZF looks so nice, it gets the darker tones of the gen. Under heavy light the rep always is going to show a “cheaper finished sunburst” not proper of a 8000€ watch.

This is the most striking point to me (the darker tones) , with no light (ie at night) and at a distance of 3-4 meters 90% the hulk seems black or extremely dark . Some gen owners around here probably can relate about this.

Completely false there is no mk1 mk2 mk3 mk4 versions of the rolex submariner 116610lv someone made a 16610lv dial guide years ago using the mk atrix and that was kind of true for the Kermit but no such thing for the hulk or the ceramic submariner all dials were made and sold and used concurrently apart from the newest layout that you will never see on an old case 116610lv

When you say it’s nice but in RL next to a gen it looks bad then why we payed 50 bucks more

Well there you go then.the insert look nice alone but put it next to gen and it shows it's TRUE colours if your sure that the qc for the guy that put it next to his gen so imo that is probably the v2 s insert and not the v 2 insert that slipped through the net.the V2 insert is plain on the back and the v2 s has clean factory v3 heavily engraved on the back.well both of my v2 had no engraving and neither does the proto.so that should be a way to identify what you got without having a v2 or a gen to compare

If you look at li pics you can see the insert colour is not identical .even in the pics that Chinese post the insert is 99 close in colour going by the pics and the lighting used .but I can still see a difference.the lighting can manipulate colours

Yeah as you said it is 99 percent like gen but this what we get is 80% lol

Maybe so, but your definitely right that the pic posted of the gen in the same hand as the v2s is a bit concerning as its looks way off as much as the V2 insert was compared to gen.but without a gen being around no1 would ever call the insert out on its colour alone. And the zzf is still my favourite hulk even though I'm not a fan of the cg .and the lugs in some examples

I'm gonna stick up for li he never said the insert was identical to gen, he is a td but he dont work in the factory .and his pics being misleading I dont think so because in certain situations and lighting conditions the insert even the v2 insert looks almost identical to gen.anyway that just my 2 pence on that.but if you disagree that's fine also

As someone who has the ZZF I would like to say yes that's true. The watch is still nice I really like the green. I sent videos to couple of my friends with Gen (black) subs and everyone said nice sunburst etc. I don't think someone without a gen side by side will call you out bassed on the insert. My only problem is that the ZZF dial can't replicate the real black shade. I think that is quite more obvious without a gen side by side (but just for experts and gen owners)

But I'm still suprised that the color is that much off..

We gonna love it for sure. By the way i'm comparing my 2 qc pics and as i though before not shure if it's the same insert.

But if he uses some trick like phoshopping or searching the right angle for exemple because the review is ultra biased when you compare to the pics from the RWI guys it's not the same thing at all.

It's like when you're at macdonalds it look awesome before ordering, it's tasty but when you see it IRL it's not the same.
