I have 4 of these, 2 x V2 and 2 x V1. The only issue I have is with one of the V1’s has a comedy second hand that jumps around. The others, I have had between 2 months for the other V1 and around 5 weeks for the V2’s. The V2’s have been good with a lot of wrist wear, but my good V1 is solid as well. I guess it’s a bit of a lottery, but I haven’t suffered any of the DOA’s that some have complained about.
This is the white one? I’m assuming all the diff colors have the same movement?

I’m a bit lost. Does the Ali glass you likend last time will fit a bbr v2 rm? Wondering if should have AR ed the rep crystal or buy the Ali one .
Would be great to find a final solution to these sapphire glass mods.

Non reflective and tripple AR coated?

FYI i wanted to order a extra rubber black strap to swap between white/black. Turns out BBR asks $150 for them.... anyone already luck on Aliexpress rubber strap models?

Can your modder take measurements of the plots etc. please? @Scottymagic
And it was DOA when it hit my guy today!!

Might be a good thing in long run, now he can give it a good look and see if there’s any way to improve the movement

I would AR the existing crystal, there's no guarantee that the Ali crystals will fit and $190 is a lot for a piece of glass. I know the generic crystals (34.4x30.7mm, $15 apiece) fit all the KVF reps but don't fit any ZF or BBR that I'm aware of.

So why do we need to replace the crystal on the BBR?

Personally I wouldn't replace the BBR crystal, it's not the best but it's not terrible, and especially considering it probably won't fit I don't know why anyone would pay $200 for the crystal and another $200 to some watchmaker to install it. My honest opinion is that none of these mods are worth the price, not a jewel mod, not an AR mod, nothing. Stock factory watches end up getting improved as new versions come out, and people end up paying hundreds for a tiny mod that gets fixed anyways in the next version. I saw someone quoted like $250 for a jewel mod for a BBR when the v2 with correct jewel color had already been released.

So bad news from my watchmaker -
“Not a true replicated movement. It Has fake wheels, cap jewel for the balance wheel is fake, likely with a pink jewel underneath it.

The movement is overbanked. Might be worth returning because it’s going to overbank again. Could be a chronic issue with this movement. I recommend swapping it for a new watch or movement if possible.”

We’re talking about BBR RM055 version 2?

Overbanking makes sense since this probably has half the friction of the Miyota they pulled the wheels out of and they haven't recalibrated the hairspring so it's flinging itself around with too much force. The jewel was pretty obvious from the start that it was just a cap (even on the v1 I'm pretty sure that red jewel isn't actually the balance jewel), and same with the fake wheels. It's definitely not a clone movement at all, but a lookalike made out of another common movement.

A watchmaker I took my BBR V2 to said he thought there were 3D printed parts in the movement and wasn't sure it was all Miyota. He did say he couldn't be sure, and didn't want to open it up.

(For those not following in the other thread, mine arrived DOA as well)

I'm curious if something changed between V1 and V2 or this has always been the case.

Shit man... thats terrible news. So a overhaul won't fix the issue?

Waiting on my screwdrivers so he can open it up - that was his guess by looking in but he hasn't opened it up yet. Shit news, he says case, strap and even crystal are more than good enough - just the most important part is shit lol

To be fair, it's pretty obvious it's not a true replicated movement. The real thing has two mainsprings to even out the torque distribution. They've replaced one with a fake wheel.
The day when reps can replicate a double mainspring barrel setup watch will be a big breakthrough but don't think that's happening in the foreseeable future. As this is normally limited to high horology pieces

I serviced a (vsf?) omega rep with a rep 8906 movement a while ago with a double spring barrel. I didn’t service the mainsprings in this movement so I’m not sure if one of them was just a barrel only. So maybe a double barrel rep movement is out there.

@Scottymagic Thanks for the service pics! That's really interesting seeing it torn down. Are the eight silver cylinders sleeves for the screws? Looks like the case has hogged-out holes instead of pressed inserts for the screws. Appreciate the photos a lot, those are really informative!
