Hopefully if it's the case, then you could get an ARF GMT, mount the gen dw on it, and then you have a killer gmt, maybe change crystal, depends on how good arf's is

Tobel the 3185 will not be the same as the 3135 when dw plate is concerned. Because the 3185 uses a small gear at the date mechanism which needs a jewel to hold that gear. Also the hour wheel are slightly larger than the 3135.

as for the 3186 i believe is very different from the 3185. 3185 hour ratchet sits within the same parts of the hour wheel. But i believe the 3186 itself has a different set of click spring to act as the ratchet hour.

You can read more on this. I have concerns on this 3186 as even gen have issues with the spring. Lets see if it is reliable or not.

I always liked ARF dials on the subs. Too bad they went with font that is too bold on the GMT. The O is too circular and fat. Disappointing waiting this long for a great watch with a bad dial & DW.

ARF and VRF cases should fit a gen 3185. IDK if anyone has actually done it yet. The 3186 is slightly thicker, it may fit as well. Noob case will not fit a gen movement without some modifications, and even then it's not the best fit.

Yes they would but hopefully we are past needing to do that with the SH3186 and VR3185. Those Yuki conversions are a little pricey. They served well as a upgrade to ETA GMTs.

But VRF has a nice movement (not saying that ARF isn’t nice as well) and nice case.

Thanks mega12. I am sure this has been asked but we cant interchange parts can we? between the two and get a hybrid one? And whats the difference between the movements? Thanks
