Good choices. The piano black one is nice and it seems to come in a slightly cheaper mahogany brown version too. If I buy that one I may put it in my office where there are plenty of outlets.
And then I will just have to get a couple more automatic watches LOL

Beautiful. Am I right to suspect a gen datewheel as well? ;)

botsyboy you win. That looks amazing! Is it full bezel assembly gen or just the insert? And how’s the ARF insert next to the gen? Thanks ????

It’s the VR datewheel which is overall very good. A little thinner on some dates but way better than the arf.

It’s just the insert that is gen and it snapped in very nicely. Unfortunately the arf insert didn’t fair too well on removal!

First time an insert has snapped on me but unlike the sub which has washer to help hold the insert tight, the gmt doesn’t and needs a special pronged tool to punch through the slots on the underside of the bezel. Sadly my method didn’t work!

As to a comparison between gen and rep, there simply isn’t one! The rep on its own is pretty good and in pics it look reasonably close but in the flesh there is no comparison to how the real platinum shines with that peachy hue and reflects the light!
I have another arf on its way from China and I will do a side by side before I sell it on.

Beautiful!

my ARF is coming soon, i already have insert and ring nut gen. I will not change the movement for now, also because the new ARFs have a very good non fat date disk. You say we don't need a gen dial?

Thats how it should be done! I would add gen hands, just cuz, but ARF hands aren't bad.

Just be careful with the movement and only use the jumping hour hand if you really need to. I learnt the way. Currently waiting on the VR3185 to swap the movements out!

I've been sort of using the jumping hour hand with reckless abandon on both the vrf and GMF 3186s and still holding strong.

V9F is also a good contender, especially if you are planning on frankening it. The lugs are amazing, CGs are better than ARF. Plus it comes with vr3185.

I would swap the dial and hands if a good set came along but it’s fine for now.

I’ve decided to pull the trigger, but it seems there is massive variability in access between TDs at the moment. Who has ordered one recently and had a quick turnaround (eg within a week) with qc and which td was that?

I originally ordered from Li a few weeks ago and its still in China! In the meantime I bought one from Sead’s UK stock and modded that one. There are no quick options from China currently.

so you chose L'ARF only for the case? Are you sure it's the best case? For me no. ARF is the best choice only OOTB

I personally like the ARF for fit and finish and had no intention of swapping the insert but got one for a good price so went for it! I’m happy with the rest of it unless a dial and hands comes for sale at a good price.

Agree on the ARF as great base and the mods you've done have taken it to the next level, well done bro. How did the gen insert go in, before the bezel was pressed on or after? Thanks.
