APW+ 26331 - Not 7750?

To me this watch has two flaws that I care enough to not pull the trigger:

- Slow date change. Date starts changing around 10pm and completes the move at 12pm. That’s around two hours for “awkward time” if you are going out at night with that watch

- Misaligned pinion positions as mentioned above
I think you have to realize this as the mother of all AP collabs (and not the shitty ones). It’s the Rolex X AP!!

Daytona is the BEST chronograph by miles according to all watchmakers. No one comes remotely close to its accuracy, reliability and simplicity. What you are getting are all the Daytona features.

I love this more than a clone or dare I say even the gen. The clone sucks as do most AP calibers. If I had FU money, I would do this. Buy a Daytona to put inside an AP.

Besides the misleading reddit post regarding the 38mm variant i don’t see too many reasons why a 30.5mm in diameter and 6.5mm in height movement shouldnt fit inside a 38mm ø case.

What could get in the way are the bezel screws and clearance for the seals. But as you can see there is quite some tolerance for the movement holder.

I like your and our optimism. The 1185 is 26mm in diameter for the 38mm case.

I’m so ready to buy all the panda color ways for the 38. It really wouldn’t get better than this.

I suppose the case screw size are different for 41mm RO and 38mm RO, the tolerance distance between case screw and movement holder are APW+ job to get it done.
Lets wait and see if there is any 38mm variant.
Lastly, small correction on my previous comment that this movement DOES NOT HACK the second.

You mean they modified this to be non hacking ?

Native 4801 does hack

Probably had to fit the date wheel and compromise

I'm picking one up we have been begging for something like this
completely agree

Im hoping this is for the 26331 what the 7750 was to the Daytona - a prelude to an actual clone once they see how popular this model is

But for the gen 1185 caliber, the date doesn’t flip instantly as well. It is a caliber with gradual date change.

I guess on gen 26331 the slow date change completes in 20 minutes as in the video and the date number doesn’t get stuck right in the middle for too long (almost 2 hours on 4801) so it appeared somewhat instant to me. Less “awkward time” for sure

Curious on your thoughts on the pinion positions, hopefully it is nothing too obvious.... then again I was never a guy that cared about a 1 mm here or there

I’m sure IRL it’s fine. It’s still whether the color shades of the dial and subdials are close that matter the most

It depends on what you’re looking for in your watch. I will personally prefer the correct pinion position as it will also mean that the subdial positions are correct vs gen.

I owned a daytona, the hour & minute subdial pinions are "slightly higher" ( about 1mm) than the center hands. However, you will not notice any difference on visual eye.
