The ONE thing I need to know is whether this case will take a gen movement. Then that opens the door to SW/gen dials and an all around near perfect watch

Correct, but the CNC case and bracelet cost way too much. I’ve seen some of these builds for 6-9k depending on who works on it and what gen parts are included.Would be interesting, but all you are doing is negating the need for a CNC case/bracelet? Those CNC builds have "gen" movement, SW or gen dials and CNC case/bracelet which go for $5k or whatever. Assuming just SW dial/dw, and "gen" movement you are still in for a 2-3k project for a near perfect 26331. Not bad, but this APW in my mind is a budget piece that is a good starting point but not a NWBIG piece. Either way I think I want to try one even before the elusive 26240
My wallet doesn’t want to know the answer. The ONE thing I need to know is whether this case will take a gen movement. Then that opens the door to SW/gen dials and an all around near perfect watch
Doesnt subdial positioning eliminate gen dials/SW dials? The ONE thing I need to know is whether this case will take a gen movement. Then that opens the door to SW/gen dials and an all around near perfect watch

Someone said there is a lot of space in the 38mm version to accommodate the 5mm extra of the 4801. I hope they are right.DD4801 has different diameter compared to FP1185. Therefore, a logical conclusion is that it cant fit FP1185 on DD4801 movement holder.
Create a whole new movement holder for FP1185 cost a lot because the manufacture unable to scale the production.

This is the original discovery for the 38mm model possibilityBesides the misleading reddit post regarding the 38mm variant i don’t see too many reasons why a 30.5mm in diameter and 6.5mm in height movement shouldnt fit inside a 38mm ø case.
What could get in the way are the bezel screws and clearance for the seals. But as you can see there is quite some tolerance for the movement holder.

But there are two shortcomings which I think APW should improve next, first, the brushing on both sides of the case is not obvious and should be enhanced. Second, the area which the small dials contact with the main dial is not well processed, it does not look very clear. Fortunately, the watch is sold at a much affordable price than that of 26240.
