Agreed. It's not perfect. If you want "perfect" it'll cost you ~500x more and you'll need to be a celebrity. My point was simply that it's an improvement over what we saw in the initial release from ZF.

Interestingly, I just saw the PureTime has dropped the price of the ZF version to $848. Competition is a marvellous thing :)
Na not 500x. It’s pretty sloppy though. That needs to be cleaned up.

It's so damn close to the gen unless you look at your new watch with a microscope, don't see the point of trying to see these tiny flaws lol. For me I am not trying to trick anyone into believing I own a gen, I just want a cool looking RM watch for a fraction of the price. I just ordered the RMF factory RM055 cost less than $500USD from biao lol
They’re aren’t tiny. You definitely don’t need a microscope.

I have received these photos for an RM-055 movement from @popup

He is saying that it’s developed by a factory based in Shanghai and claiming that it looks exactly like the genuine movement with a sprung free balance system and a power reserve of 48 hours.

@dogwood have you heard of this photo amd what do you think of it from what it looks in the photos?

I’ll buy that movement any day!

I am buying it too, he has sent me QC for the movement and he is just waiting for the APSF watch to replace the stock movement with his beauty

What do you all think? Is it worth it to invest $4,500 in this movement combined with the latest APSF clone?

Five main characteristics distinguish this movement:

1. The deck is made from grade five titanium alloy, expertly carved by CNC instrument
2. It features a clone Vaucher movement with double mainspring, providing enhanced durability and reliability.
3. Ribs are crafted with 800 meshes, incorporating fine sandblasting
4. Real gemstone shock absorber ensures greater movement stability
5. The best Laser marking technology, greatly improves precision and fitnesses

I think so. I have a BBR 35-01 incoming, otherwise I would probably upgrade to this setup. I'm no expert, but this movement seems pretty close to the gen. Both APSF and BBR seem to have pretty good NTPT cases, and definitely better than ZF. APSF might be a little shinier than BBR, but the pattern also makes a difference. For ~4,500 you have something that's 99% close to the gen, which is pretty crazy if you think about it. For $600 the BBR 35-01 is 90% close to gen (some color and font variations, and a closed case back so you can't see the non-free sprung movement). So I'll settle for the BBR for the time being and see if I actually like wearing this watch, but would buy the 55-01 at this price point if I knew for sure I wanted this model.

Agree with above. Surely only a matter of time before they start mass producing the movement, ribs and cases everyone wants so the prices are more palatable for your average rep buyer.

I am getting it combined and instat in the latest APSF RM-055 for $5,000 delivered to my door.

Do you think it’s worth the investment for a rep movement, I know it’s not an ordinary rep but it’s still a rep and I am not sure if it will hold its value or if I will be able to sell it without loss in future. I’d really like to know everyone’s opinion before I finally pull the trigger.

@dogwood and all experts here, your opinion really matters to me. It’s not a small amount.

I'm not movement expert but waiting is better. At the pace of these RM releases there have been so many advancements this year. Next year who knows what the future will bring bro.

The $5000 you get is not same movement your post in the picture, trust me.
I think you need double check with him to be clear out.
There are 2 different kind of movement, one is by ACE, the other one is unknown factory. The ACE one is more like gen, you can tell the escape wheel jewel is bigger Like gen (the picture you post), the others are not big like gen.

Jeez that is a beaut! I agree with the others, given the pace and trend of RM updates over the last 12 months, I wouldn't be surprised if this is available for much cheaper in 6 months or so. Don't forget it wasn't that long ago when figures like $20k-$30k were being thrown around.
Exciting times for enthusiasts!

typically, from what i have seen, resale is not the greatest on RM. sure, some do well'ish, while others get kicked in the balls.

“Holding value” means that somebody else will be willing to pay close to the price you paid. I’m not sure that’s true for RM reps — the demand for them in m2m feels soft. I think it’s always best to buy a rep because you love it not because you like it and think you can sell it if you change your mind.
