I'm gonna hold off for a Rg version, I'm in no rush to buy this.

Why not a SS with black dial and RG with silver/white dial? :) I hate to hijack my own thread, but I am always attracted to RG, but I find that my rg pieces tend to sit in the watch box. I bought a gorgeous everrose gold Daytona with black dial (sec@6). I had it serviced, I have wore it once. It's gorgeous...and I love it..and its such a flashy piece that I am uncomfortable wearing it. The steel is also much more accurate IMO since there are no worries about the base metal showing through and the weight difference between a plate steel and gen RG are obvious. That said, I am still buy the RG 15400, but I fear it will also end up being a box queen. You have two gold AP's already, so maybe you can pull them off better than me,

Still think its way over priced Set, doesn't bother me if Ss or fg as I would wear to work anyway. I've got my Montoya on today and trust me that screams look at me:hehehe:

Shit, you aren't kidding. I couldn't wear a montoya to work. My work environment is very conservative/corporate.

I have to agree - my AP RGRC sits in my box the most even though it's my absolute favorite. If i'm going to somewhere i know there will be others wearing high end gens i'll always wear my most accurate SS watches, Fully modded SS HBB/AP Diver or gen breitling.

I had the rep of the DD II YG which is my grail watch and sold it within a week of having it. It was actually a really nice rep, great finish but how anyone could be comfortable going out with that much fake gold on their wrist i don't know :D:

The RG of this is my favourite also but i'd only wear it if it was on a gen leather bracelet (or was gen).

I am with you 100%. It sucks to love a watch so much, yet feel completely uncomfortable wearing it. I knew how I would feel even before I bought the daytona, but I had to have it. It just doesn't get any flashier IMO than a RG Daytona--even SA's disappear into the woodwork when a RG Daytona is around. I also have it in TT with a white dial. It's still flashy, but it's definitely no over the top. Since a near mint pre-owned gen can be found for $8000 or so (versus the RG that costs $37,000 new $28,000 for near mint used), it's also not a watch that is completely ridiculous.

Seems to be a problem with the date wheel riding high on the latest one

Ok gentleman. Everyone insist on seeing QC pics at 1:50 and reject if date looks crap!

Hmm Angus' photos and videos also show a misaligned date wheel. Would these use an overlay, and be fixable?

newest version is more expensive, but has a much better finish and more quality....

Just look at the end links on the bp's... looks like crap next to the new version

'Major' issues:
BP: No polished rehaut
New Maker: poorly aligned date wheel

Minor issues:
BP: bracelet that comes off too easily, blue dial not as good as new makers, shoddy QC from BP fac, no decoration on movement
New maker: missing laser etching/white line thing on the AP logo, bezel screws not recessed

I don't have either yet, nor are these authoritative/valid reasons for picking one maker over the other - just reporting what members across the boards having been saying.

Personally, I chose the new maker because i'm a much bigger fan of their blue dial and the cote de geneve decoration on the movement, and hopefully fix the date wheel issue myself... but that's just me

i was leaning that way too but new maker couldnt get the AP logo straight on some the pics ive seen and thats worrisome because of the $$ premium
i dont see where its justified - Angus let it slip awhile back that the new maker was charging more than BP because they felt that there quality was worth the extra $$. and not for an actual quantifiable difference/improvement between theirs and BP.
Im sorry but i won't pay more just because what they think they can charge for it, without a justifiable reason.
So far, im also waiting to see a side by side comparo of the two together. Really should be
photographed in natural light too- so hard to tell real life color with artificial lighting.

if u can wait for 6 months then you can pick the best cuz angus has his own version coming out then with a Miyota movement and he said it will be cheaper...

February ( at the most extreme optimistic date) is a long time to wait for something that may or may not finally arrive- you can look at the Tudor project as an example.

I think these 2 will be the only contenders for a good while.

the Black bay i will get that's for sure! i had to jump on one of theses AP RO so i just ordered the new maker version silver dial at puretime. will post Qc pics when i get them, and i can sell it when angus's version comes...

But what will be so different with the miyota movement? i mean better movement decoration? 1:1 case?

less expensive that's good, but what else?
