I assumed the rehaut was another layer, like dial, rehaut, crystal, bezel or something

apart from the DSSD i dont think any rehauts come out of the cases , they are part of the case internally machined

Rehaut is part of the case. It is created using a specialized laser pecker.

I did research on this and it is practically near impossible to do custom rehaut engravings on an existing case. First of all you need to find a laser pecker or service willing to do it. And sanding the rehaut off actually will have a weird gap between dial and case.

The only way to do this is with a CNC custom case from scratch and properly engraved with the correct machine. It can be done - see some of the full gold cases with rehaut. But very expensive. I've never seen a custom steel CNC case on the forum....

Just a general suggestion for anyone wondering if certain parts of a watch are sold separately: You could try searching for them on eBay or on a parts dealer web site etc.

If there are 0 results, there's your answer.

thanks for the answer, this is the conclusion i ended up coming to, that the rehaut was part of the case and so it's generally unremovable

I searched on ebay / etc, didn't get results, but I thought it was more so that I was searching the wrong keyword / part is rare to acquire or whatever
