You should service your rehaut bearings once a year.
not really, what i’m saying is visually the “new rehaut” would probably be smaller, but it would still have better engravings, so it would work in this context (the rehaut was infact replaced), but i don’t think it would be worth itYou're kinda contradicting yourself, no?
yeah or you would have gotten crucified yourselfUmm, I also thought rehaut was separate, . Sure I watched some video about it and it looked like it was removalable. Glad I haven’t asked same question.
I wanted to run a franken build where I slowly replace every part into gen, which would also include finding a gen case. Theseus rolexWhy are you so pain-in-the-s to redo a rehaut or getting a gen one? AFAIK, they are never that terrible.
It's cheaper to buy a gen from the grey market. The prices have come down.I wanted to run a franken build where I slowly replace every part into gen, which would also include finding a gen case. Theseus rolex

My idea is just a passing idea, a project. I'm not doing this because I actually want a gen, if I wanted a gen that badly I would have just done that from the start. My idea is more oriented towards learning about watchesIt's cheaper to buy a gen from the grey market. The prices have come down.

nothing too serious, i just feel like the rehaut is the most obvious call out in 2024 rolex 126610 reps, engraving isn't the greatest + serial number for VSF is obviousWhy are you so pain-in-the-s to redo a rehaut or getting a gen one? AFAIK, they are never that terrible.
Thanks! sounds like a good planMy suggestion is to buy a JKF 5513 and start to tinker. It takes gen pieces, and there is ample supply of aftermarket rep parts too
Vintage modding is much more forgiving than modding modern watch. A great place to start to learn
What kind of Rolex? Most of them are over that range if you want a Sub, GMT, Daytona, YM etc.but on that note, aren't rolexes still 8-10k
What @TESLA760 mentioned is completely right. Getting all the franken parts could be a pain. I am doing that, it ain't pretty, spending 5k already and didn't even reach the half mark. For the movement, you have to get it piece by piece, so it's like 200 parts and not all of them you can find NOS, some are second hand and you have to be very careful about this.I wanted to run a franken build where I slowly replace every part into gen, which would also include finding a gen case. In a 10x magnified image, maybe, but not in real life when people are at least 3 feet away from you.nothing too serious, i just feel like the rehaut is the most obvious call out in 2024 rolex 126610 reps, engraving isn't the greatest + serial number for VSF is obvious
How much do you think a gen case is ?but on that note, aren't rolexes still 8-10k
I get your point. My point is that the rehaut of a VSF is always marked Q66. Q serial numbers don't exist in gen rolexes, so if anyone spends 15 seconds looking at the SN they can figure it out.In a 10x magnified image, maybe, but not in real life when people are at least 3 feet away from you.
You know what? The biggest tell of a rep is the one who wears them. Do you look like a guy who can afford a 10k north watch? This is how others find out who is wearing a rep, not the rep itself.
Guessing a gen case would be 3-5k.How much do you think a gen case is ?
Add dial, hands, datewheel, gen movement (or parts). Add a bracelet and you're over the cost of a gen. Many of you new people have a habit of not listening to what we tell you. Our advice comes from personal experience. If you feel like wasting 10k on a project, that's on you. But you should heed the advice being given to you.
BTW, the rehaut engraving is the least of your concerns on a rep Rolex. If someone really wanted to call you out, there are a dozen things they would see before that.
#1I can see only two reasons to make a heavy Franken.
1. The joy of making something yourself. It’s a hobby and you accept that the end result will be less than a gen but yet more expensive.
2. You are aiming to mimic a >50.000€ piece, or a limited edition low market availability. Like a 6265 Big Red
Now, getting a gen dial/hands/insert on a 5513 viet case will get you at 3000€, add a gen bracelet you are at 5000€…a gen movement, you are at 8500€ minimum with a clone mvt inside
This is excluding tools, labor and expensive mistakes (don’t ask me how I know )
A gen 5513 in acceptable condition will be at that price
That's 100% incorrect. A gen watch will always be worth more. Frankens are nice to enjoy, but you'll always lose money the day you decide to pass it on. Even if it's 99% genuine, it's still not considered a gen. I can read off quite a list of Frankens I've built, and lost money on each one.#1
A watch which you created with your own efforts will always be worth more to you than a watch that you just bought and threw money at with 0 effort
