how do you semi? 🤔

Only half case or one side ?

Ha! As in, I spent longer than I should looking into it, and had to pull myself away from the laptop and find something shiny to distract me with ;)

The other half of the rabbit hole may have been eyeing up a 16600. The six digits just have to go!

(Except one. Or two.)

How about a tutorial with tons of pictures? 🥳

until 1.00 and the bit clears the outside of the lug.
also, use a 1mm and center well
The 1mm gives you more margin for error

Once the bit has cleared, you finish the job cleanly from the outside using a drill press. 1mm then 1.1 1.2 and finally 1.3

lubricate the bit and hole well !!!

use cobalt bits or tunsten carbide bits

Informative but unsatisfying because I was looking forward to a @Karbon74 production with cameo appearances and original soundtrack.

Joking aside, thanks friend.

@Karbon74 thanks for the link
That actually seems pretty doable.

What type of drill is that?
I was picturing having to use some sort of diy hand drill and somehow navigate around the opposite lug with a huge chuck in the way.. but obviously a smaller jewellers drill like this makes much more sense ;)

A dremel.

You can probably enhance the technique with a flexible shaft attachement to make it easier to manipulate.

Plus he is using a CNC drill bit with the colored choker thingy. There are other bits that are full straight

Super useful thanks for that 👍
Didn’t want to attempt it with my dremel but this attachment would make it easier for sure..

and the only way to acquire the knowledge is to do it 😅
I drilled holes in the rug using the method you taught me.

I managed to complete it after ruining three drill bits. (LOL)

Thank you.

I attempted this task by purchasing a drill bit from Amazon based on the YouTube video Karbon74 posted above.
The work took about 1 hour to drill the holes
About 2 hours to deburr (polish the lugs) around the hole

The holes are drilled at a slight angle because the drill bit is inserted from the back.
I had to use a thin round file to correct the hole because it opens a little upward from the outside.

It took a lot of courage to do this work by myself, but in the case of this watch, I was able to do it successfully.
