Sweet.... ;). How does it fell ? :):)

I own gen APs but Aquanauts are something special. I'm not sure if its a case of the grass being greener on the other side. Not into Nautiluses though.

Did you get the 3kf ? If yes how does it compare to the gen ?

No I did not get the 3K. I have a ZF. I wanted to see the difference between ZF and 3K and Nobigdeal 2010 kindly obliged (thank you again). After seeing it though i am not convinced that 3K is worth pulling the trigger just yet. IMO they need to make slight changes to the dial and improve the strap quality. I dont care about movement and markings as nobody will ever see the back of my watches.

IMO in terms of the dial, there is too much contrast between the centre and the periphery. They did not do the transition from the almost black periphery to the lighter centre very well. Too sudden a transition and too much brown I feel. I also feel that the diffrence in colour between the numerical index and the bubble/stick markers is too much as of now.

How does the ZF you own compare to the gen you saw ? Day and night difference ?

Thanks for this. Appreciate it.

Looks like 3K hasnt quite got the dial right either. Too much contrast between the centre of the dial and the periphery.

Are those stock 3K rubber bands? I thought 3K bands were supposed to be quite rubbish but they look good here.

Both watches have ZF rubber

Yes i'm afraid ZF is quite rubbish :). The sunburst on the gen is very subtle and in photographic terms 'matt' wheras the sunburst on the ZF is in your face and 'glossy'.

The ZF is quite a beautiful watch as a standalone actually. When i first got the watch, having not seen a gen before, I was quite impressed by the dial. I would say that this is the layman's idea of a sunburst; rich, brilliant and sparkling. The sunburst is quite similar to the one found on Patek 5396. Unfortunately compared to the gen this is quite 'vulgar'. Its as if patek is saying 'a gentleman does not shout'. The sunburst here is gentle and elegant. An aristocrat's sunburst if you will.

Yes, ZF fits 3k just fine in my opinion. No noticeable gaps or anything. Easy, necessary, swap in my opinion

I agreed with this statement based on the pictures. If you compare the gen strap + 3K like that with both your ZF and 3K on ZK straps in the previous picture, the gen strap and 3K will show a noticeable gap.

Any of you boys that aren’t using your 3k straps want to part with them? ;)

Just go trough the ones that are for sale on Chrono24, most of them don’t line up in the clasp

Here is a shot of the gen clasp I found on YouTube:
Note that it doesn't close appropriately neither without adjustment, which probably because of its finicky nature.
Wow great catch. I noticed this initially on my 3kf clasp too but good to know it can be consistent with the gen too

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I'm genuinely interested in it: how come a factory like 3K can make an almost flawless replica, but leaves in glaring mistakes. (Painted words on a 1:1 replica movement, links sticking out on the steel bracelet). Does anyone know if this is a deliberate strategy? Wouldn't they be able to get more sales if they just released one without these flaws? (Also, competitors would be disincentivized to compete with them). I'd love to learn more about this.

Well if they make a perfect replica, without a single flaw, what would be your motivation to buy another one of the same watch? Zero right :)
