Woop woop. Thanks Avenger :) Just nice to contribute something after learning so much.

As re; the case. It's such a minor thing. For the sake of absolute perfection yes, there's a slight difference but hell, noticing anything from the wrist is almost impossible.

Congrats Bonesey, excellent post. Award well deserved. I will get my hulk as soon as my trusted dealer can provide one.

I will follow this closely.

I'm hoping that our other TD's can provide access to the same youtube seller watch as it's a stunner. Or at least provide any information as to whether better bezel versions are due out from the factories.

Bonesey are you 100% sure the youtube version is better than the Watch Eden? I think WE's runs it quite close. I checked out a gen at the weekend and the color is pretty close. Also Youtube sellers doesn't look ceramic to me, no better than WE's anyway.

There are some very subtle differences between the two watches that lead me to believe they are different sources. Shape of the Rolex crown on the dial, slightly wokkier rehaut on the WE version, his has a perfectly aligned rehaut engraving as far as I can tell as well.

Whether the bezel or not is ceramic is still in doubt. Youtube seller claims that they are ceramic sandwich bezels and from his video it certantly looks ok. It's not as shiny as the black and blue versions i'll admit but I think that's a by product of obviously having to use a green metallic compound to simulate the vibrant green of the gen. The bezel numbering and marking is definately recessed as opposed to the older metal bezels.

Pearl does look similar but i would say YTS has the edge. Crystal height looks slightly taller on the video than WE version as well.

Out of all of them it's still the version I would choose tbh.

Timeshops Revisited

So we all know that dealer photos never tell the full story. Lighting conditions, white balance settings and differing cameras can make all the difference when taking shots of the watches. This was my initial assessment of the Timeshops LV offering

Bonesey said:
* No evidence of sunburst dial
* Good pearl
* Terrible colour (could be pics only)
* Excellent dial, both minute markers and lumed markers
* Correct hands
* Incorrect polished mid links bracelet
* Good crown

A very nice member on here has purchased the watch and was nice enough to send me some shots of the watch in question. The biggest issue with the TS version was the lack of a sunburst dial and of course the almost olive green of the bezel and dial which I claimed could be down to photo processing and capture. Was I right? Let's have a look.

xbkHr.jpg

So straight off we can see that the colour is a drastic change from the dealers shots. A lovely emerald green that is much closer to the gen than initially indicated. The pearl is slightly off-centre and not the best I've seen on any of the new reps. A pearl mod could make it cosmetically better.

We can also see that the bezel is definitely a ceramic sandwich construction with recessed numbering and markers and seems to be on par with the rest of the current Black and Blue ceramic sub offerings from the dealers.

One major disappointment is the lack of the sunburst dial. This, unfortunately, is a major tell in regards to accuracy and to me one of the main selling points of the gen watch. However the rest of the dial looks very nicely done. Dial markings are crisp and accurate, the lumed markers look well made as well.

The incorrect polished mid links bracelet has been updated to the correct bracelet which is nice to see.

I'll leave you with the rest of the photos given to me and you can make up your own mind. The rest of the construction as far as I can tell is as per a lot of the current C reps and I can't see any major flaws.

Puretime Revisited

Well it looks like a few more of these reps are starting to hit customers watch boxes. I scoped out someone over on RG selling his Puretime version so I have pinched the pics to share here. My initial thoughts on the PT version;

Bonesey said:
* Has correct sunburst dial
* Terrible lumed markers and minute markers
* Non-ceramic bezel
* Incorrect hands

So lets have another look at some 'real' photos of the watch.

2M4m6.jpg

First off we can see a few key details. The bezel is ceramic, however it has the same metallic compound colouring that we see on Watch Eden's and the Youtube sellers versions. The pearl is nicely centred on this particular watch which is always a bonus even if the pearl itself looks a bit off. The dial itself is nice with the correct sunburst effect very visible here.

The second thing that jumps out at me is the wokky rehaut. It's the worst I've seen on the new ceramic subs from our TD's and to me really detracts from the watch. The rehaut engraving however is pretty well replicated and seems about 95% aligned with just some minor spacing issues.

The version still has the incorrect GMTii C polished mid links bracelet.

I don't understand how/why rehauts become wokky, are they manufactured out of shape, or is it an installation issue? I would have thought that the current supply of rehauts would all be pretty decent. Based on Puretime's it seems not. TS does look good, but total absence of sunburst is disappointing, as you say.

Manufacture issue definately. All down to the design stages. I'm also curious that it's not something that i picked up on in the initial review of the dealer pictures. But looking back now it is possible to see that it does have a slightly shallower rehaut than the other models seen so far.

I thought the dealer bezel description was just "ceramic-like finish" or something. Did they change it, or did it turn out to really be a ceramic?

Anyway, this thread is turning out to be great detective work. Amazing job.

No, they definately still claim 'ceramic like finish' on the PT website. It's possible that the bezel just has paint filled recessed markings on an aluminium bezel to give it that look. It's not something that I could really tell from these most recent photos. Must admit i'd forgotten that the original analysis had this point.

However in saying that, the bezel on the sellers photos looks better than the ones in the dealer shots. Or at least you can see a recessing in the lettering.

Although not correct to gen, I prefer the metallic look on the bezel insert. It compliments the sunburst dial better than the "correct" ceramic bezel.

I just realised that I didn't know what the lume colour for the Hulk was. Of course Green would make it just toooo cool. So it's blue :p

Hello,
I'd like to know if somebody already bought this watch at You Tube Seller because I would buy one.
I looked very precisely to the video, and it seems to me that the rehaut is the same than on Puretime. If the meaning of wokky is the shape of the Japanese wok ( I didn't find this word in any dictionary), the rehaut is lightly inclined.
Sorry for my bad English, Best

So to clarify, the Gen has a starburst dial but a "matte" bezel?

Yes :)

IAwlwl.jpg

Edit: well, not matte. It's the same ceramic material as the Blue and Black C subs. So it's very very shiny. But the colour is a solid emerald green instead of a metallic compound.

This is the only 'real' pic I have of the Youtube sellers watch. The person who saw it says that the bezel is definately not ceramic. This leads me to believe it is quite possible the same watch as WatchEden.

Yeah, that's what I meant, not metalic, but still shiny. Looks like maybe buying a few different watches and putting them all together would result in an "ultimate" model, haha.

I think that what we are seeing is part of Rolex strategy, to make the pieces so difficult to replicate that it will be hard to make them unless you have very expensive equipment.

They will get there eventually, but it will take a while before we see a watch worth buying. Remember the DEEPSEA drama; my guess is that we will see that very same story all over again.

Never cared for the old LV, but this is a stunner of a watch an I WANT IT NOW!!!
