Nice!! Just to confirm - is this the domed T22 that you ordered? I mistakenly ordered the cheaper one and got the bevel, so just wanted to confirm before I put another order in

Lot 71 - Consigned by the family of the original owner, a U.S. Air Force Pilot who spent countless top secret missions overseas, this incredible Rolex Explorer reference 6610 remains in well-preserved condition.
Lieutenant Colonel Alfred N. Luttrell’s career was varied, prolific, and largely shrouded in mystery. He acquired a top secret government clearance in the late 50’s, around the same time he purchased the present Ref. 6610 Explorer, likely to mark the momentous achievement. Much of his special missions and projects remain classified to this day, but with the help of his daughter, Ms Lori Luttrell, we are able to celebrate this incredible American story.
While his countless missions remain classified, a special certificate provides undeniable proof that Lt. Colonel Luttrell worked in support of the Black Bat Squadron of the CIA reconnaissance plane pilots and crew based in Taiwan during the Cold War. The plaque awards Major Luttrell with Republic of China Air Force wings. This achievement is extraordinarily rare, as ROCAF wings are reserved specifically for members of the ROCAF and are not generally awarded to individuals from other countries.
In Lt. Colonel Luttrell’s tenure, he operated under many prestigious titles and worked in collaboration with incredible institutions outside of the military including NASA, Lincoln Laboratories, and MIT. From Chief Test Pilot, and Squadron Commander, to Aircraft Systems and Flight Instructor, Lt. Colonel Luttrell had unparalleled knowledge as a pilot, operating and maintaining over a dozen different aircrafts including ones used to evacuate hundreds of Vietnamese civilians during the fall of Saigon.
We are honored to present this Rolex Explorer, worn throughout Lt. Colonel Luttrell’s monumental ventures, and grateful for the research and personal recounts provided by Ms Lori Luttrell, the daughter of the original owner, Lieutenant Colonel Alfred N. Luttrell.
Thanks, it is indeed a 1988 Volkswagen Transporter T3 (MV engine). I worked on the door panel (because the rolling window lever stopped working) maybe that's the culprit, who knows.Wow, a nice 1016.
Nice dashboard by the way, VW T3?
Have you been working on the T3's alternator lately? Magnetized tools?
I drove an LT35 for a long time, and there was always something to work on. Now and again, even on the running engine. If you then come close to the alternator with the watch (possibly also close to any live coils), I can well imagine that the watch becomes magnetized. If it is due to the case itself, the clock should be magnetized almost immediately after the movement has been installed. (think so, not sure about that)
The watch suddenly starts running fast. And if I put through the demagnetizer it runs normally againMagnetized T3?
How do you determine that your watch is magnetized? With a compass? If it's just the case, then it would have to be deflected even when the case is empty. Have you tested that? I can't really imagine the crank for the side window as the cause - everything works completely mechanically. Or have you installed a motor?
Oh! you're right!
tried ageing the lume to a shade of dark brownWell.. I think my 'patina' went too far..
* gave the dial a light coat of Mr Hobby 'Mr Super Clear Matt' (lacquer) and let it dry for a few hours.
* Took a role of blue painters tape and made a tinfoil pocket inside.
* 405nm LED UV Light (~6w used for curing 3D prints)

~11 hour later (7pm to 6am).. I had this:

I wanted just a small amount of discoloration... not a pink dial
Do I keep going.. see if it ends up full tropical? Or leave it as is? I bought this dial to mess around with... what should my next move be?
Lume aging is next on the agendatried ageing the lume to a shade of dark brown
dial looks fantastic.
With my albino dial it was also a pink / red / minimal brown tone at first. I strongly suspect that it was only the matt lacquer that discolored and not the color of the dial. I also had my dial in front of the UV lamp for a day or so before painting it with the matt lacquer and nothing had changed - it was only after I had sprayed on the lacquer that the discoloration began.Do I keep going.. see if it ends up full tropical?
