As I said, I had the dial directly in front of the LED for about 5 days straight. Every now and then a short break when I didn't realize that the battery was empty. I didn't have the 18650 batteries in it, but a number larger (I think 21700 - but I'm not quite sure of the name) - they last a bit longer....
The process is relatively slow. I saw virtually no effect for the first two days, but from a certain point onwards it went much faster, as if the reaction needed a starting point. The effect then extended from a point around the 7 o'clock marker.

Be interesting to see what it would do to a black Raffles and hand set.

And you don't think the color change was from heat? I've got an extra dial ready to go.... I'll be happy if i can get the same effect you got :)

I had already thought about this (that the temperature played a role) but the effects are particularly noticeable at the edge. And it was probably not as warm there as directly in the middle, where the shortest distance to the LED is. But in the end I don't know. I also had the dial in the oven at 80 - 90 °C beforehand, bedded on a mixture of balsamic vinegar and freshly ground coffee. However, this only had an effect on the lume, the dial was white as before.
I also sprayed a very small amount of matt clear lacquer over the dial to reduce the shine a little. This may also have played a role.
I may also try again with a black dial. But I'm afraid it will take longer to see any effect.

As I've already badly mistreated this dial anyway, I'll just put it in front of the UV LED for a while. If there is any effect at all, it will probably be a long time coming.

I can't run the lamp continuously at the moment as I prefer to switch the light off when I'm not at home. I'm not in the mood for a burnt 1016 dial. 🔥

Maybe you can see a small change after two weeks. But I have time. (that's really something I've learned from working on the watches. In my job and to some extent in my private life, time is money. The watches don't care if I work on them for 2 hours a day or if I leave them alone for a month)

why is the bezel so much smaller than the case? the watch looks legit
This is a AliX fat lugged beast of a case that I went to town on, no shit I had to shave it like a bad prom date.. heavy with my eyes closed and it is a 1016L bezel on it, maybe a Raffles, can't remember for sure. I went to reinstall the acrylic and shattered the little (insert various cusses) so I nail glued it for shits and giggles to see how it would look until I can get some new ones here. I got some crystals on order, some lume and weathering paint as well so staying up late and playing with all my toys led to this guy. Still need to take some depth off the mid and meat off the top of the lugs before I I drill out the lug holes and do a polish

I think I found the rarest of all explorer dials: The Rolex Explorer Cartier Space-dweller
Ah yes, the ultra-rare Space-Dweller / Cartier combo - finally unearthed after 30 years in a parts bin. Truly blessed to witness such horological archaeology. This piece clearly sat just beneath the ‘Cartier Paul Newman’ in the sediment layers of dial history. 😉

Inspired, I started digging through my own dial drawer (*… gently brushing aside piles of Double Red Sealab prototypes, COMEX Milgauss testers, and a few Tiffany-signed Submariners…).

And lo and behold - here it is. The fabled Space-Dweller Tiffany Cartier Albino. From the legendary Pablo Escobar dial batch, if memory serves.

Next to that, the Bao Dai Explorer 1016 suddenly feels a bit ... pedestrian ... 🤣

I'm still waiting for the Rolex explorer space dweller domino's pizza.
Whatever you do, it will still be a more coherent design than the land dweller

Still digging through the drawer - haven’t reached the Domino’s dial yet, I need a bigger shovel. But this one just casually rolled out of the ‘meh, nothing special’ box.

Think I should list it on eBay? Or maybe just offer it straight to that connoisseur from the link above - clearly he’s building a museum. (looking at his other dials)

Just when you thought you had seen it all........
Something like the forgotten 1016 rally edition gets unearthed from a Rolex employee drawer.

After finally digging my way through the mountain of Rainbow Daytona MilSubs (they really do pile up, don’t they?) ...

... I stumbled across something I thought was lost forever: the elusive Domino’s Tiffany COMEX dial you asked about. Guess it pays off to do a little spring cleaning once in a decade.

Now if only I could find that Skydweller dial with the Pikachu X HEINZ Ketchup logos … 😉

So, now I have to stop this nonsense. ✋
Finally, a little 1016 romance ...

Finished my latest build recently,

Specs below,
Ruby case
Gen ETA 2840
Gen 24-600-0 Crown
Mochacha ETA dial
Mix of raffles time and eBay hands (recoloured)
True dome T22
Gen 580 end links
Gen 78360 clasp
Raffles dials bracelet

Really pleased with the end result although annoyingly the minute hand is a minute or so out of alignment so will have to redo that at some point.

Honestly...that deserves an original 1570.
