I wear reps that I could afford in real life and have a few PP and AP models that I wear sometimes. I’ve collected gens slowly before discovering the rep scene so those around me have always joked about my interest in watches. I live in quite a wealthy area and it’s not uncommon to see people rocking expensive watches with overpriced cars so nobody notices.

I’m not king of the dumps, more a very small fish in a big pond. I’m sure if I wore an RM people might ask why I bought that yet still have a mortgage.

You dream of an Omega ?
Horses for courses... An omega seamaster was my first grail watch many years ago and I even sold my 16610LV over my seamaster because I couldn’t afford to keep both. That same seamaster is now worth less than £2000 and the LV is worth over £15,000 but I don’t regret my decision because that seamaster was my grail watch.

If you’re worried about what others think then you’re in it for the wrong reasons. It should be about what you love and want, not what others think… @TESLA760
@TESLA760 is cool, he just likes to go fishing sometimes. Don’t take the bait 🎣.

He’s like the big brother that beats you up but will also be one of the first to call out a scammer to protect others.

I bought a gen semester 300 then got the VSF and flipped the gen as the rep is identical. It’s such a good watch.

When you decide to buy a replica, does your social status and the work you do also influence you?
Or do you buy what you really like?
With a worker's salary I would probably never buy an AP or Patek, which in real conditions would cost more than my car :D

Here's a reality check: No one gives a flying phuck to what's on your wrist. Really absolutely no one at all. Ever...

Your replica watch OR your gen watch won't magically elevate your existence, so why even bother worrying about it? 😆

You treat the cleaner exactly the same as the CEO… you don’t look down on others.

If you want to not arouse suspicions then don't wear a replica that is beyond your salary amongst friends, family, and coworkers. Since those 3 groups generally know your salary and status and if you can afford a 60k Daytona.

The thing is this though:

None, really none of my family, only one friend and zero coworkers would know what a Daytona costs or what a Daytona even is. 😂

But what I've learnt is noone cares. Literally. Unless you're wearing your watch into a watch enthusiast event, noone cares. And people care even less if it's not Rolex.

Exactly.

I wear an Omega rep to work and noone has said anything. I had a coworker ask if my 3K 5227 Patek was from Daniel Wellington. 😴

My point (1st comment up there) exactly!

We are enthusiastic about watches. Patek, Rolex, Omega or Grand Seiko mean something to us. We live in a microscopic bubble.

But the reality is this: To 99.999999999% of the world's population, a $300k Patek and $30 shitter of a Patek with a bezel that looks like Kim Kardashian's ass are the exact same identical thing:

"Oh. A bling-bling-blingy watch you got there... Is that a Casio? What? Huh? A "Patek"? What's that? Isn't that how you say "grandpa" in Russian? Lol!"

Sometimes it's good to leave our tiny echo chamber of horology and reality-check ourselves! 😆

He was cooler when he had a 760

I’m not so sure about this whole “Tesla” phase he’s going through.

Well, that really depends. When I was a journalist, I wore a nodate sub all the time, really no one gave a toss about it. But when I work at the law firm specialising in M&A, my partners can cite how many deluxe watches I have and when did I buy them (when they first saw them).

Absolutely, 100 % correct!!!

I mean, a BMW 760 was the 12 cylinders reference big sedan....

The Tesla 760 does not exist, and also TESLA is completely different from A BMW!

It's like going from Vacheron Constantin to Daniel Wellington.

But who am I to complain about @TESLA760 nickname?

😅

While I do keep them within what I can afford IRL, as time goes by, I realize no one cares what I wear but me.
This, my first rep was a Patek 5711, I knew nothing, it got two comments ever.
"Pretty watch" from a firm I work for's owners wife.
"Oh, a Patek, I wish I could find a copy (he means a homage) in that blue" from a forklift course instructor there, he doesn't know exactly what I earn, but he knows I drive a VW T4 Transporter and live in a studio flat in Nottingham, it's plain I've not dropped £80k on a watch!
Then I got a Starbucks Rolex, and that did get noticed a bit.
So I got a Tudor Black Bay Heritage (red bezel, smiley face) which is something I could easily buy in gen.
Then as time passed an I bought and sold a few reps, I cared less what anyone thinks.
Last week to work I think I've worn two different Submariners, a Pepsi GMT and a Daytona, none of them got a comment.
