I'm curious to know if the moon phase is geared 1:1 with the month (i.e. 31 days for a full rotation of the moon phase disk), or is the moon phase disk geared to make a full rotation in 29.5 days? For those who own this rep have you had to reset the moon phase with the pusher at 4 every month?

Just wondering how much adjustment this rep will require if I keep it on a winder. If I left the watch on a winder (or on my wrist):
  1. Time should stay accurate (within the limits of the movement).
  2. Day of the week should stay accurate.
  3. Day of the month will need to be updated 6 times per year (for months that don't have 31 days).
  4. Month should stay accurate (except for the start / end of each month)... actually question? Does the month indicator flip over automatically when the day goes from 31 -> 1? If not, then this is an additional 12 updates per year (of which 6 are contemporaneous with the day of the month updates).
  5. Moon phase may need to be updated every 29.5 days, or it might always be accurate, but that depends on the answer to the first question above.

By mine are:

Upper left day
Upper right month
Lower right moonphase
Lower left date

Crown is only for time

Do you pull the crown all the way out to push the pushers?

I know it works while time is running but not sure what is the correct way to do it in order to avoid damaging the mechanism.

Hey all, I received the RG version a few days ago. Here are my impressions:

My absolute favourite part of this watch is the dial. Whoever owns RF; if you’re reading this discussion, the rice worker you stole off the farm who came and designed this dial deserves a raise and a pat on his overworked back. Give him a few bushels of soybeans, an expensive bottle of Sake and take him out for a karaoke night, ON YOU.

The dial is stunning. The silver is elegant and shines at every angle, with the number standing out loud and proud. The gold finish on the markers is really exquisite. The moon phase subdial, IMO, is also really breathtaking. The blue they used looks great and the moon itself is beautifully crafted. The hand, the stack, everything IMO looks great.

The crown is easily adjusted and doesn’t feel weak. Having the pushers makes changing all the complications quite easy.

The movement is a Miyota, which I figured out now as a noob has its downside. The noise.
Sometimes I feel like I’m about to take off in a helicopter as the unidirectional rotor starts spinning freely. It does make the watch feel a bit cheaper hearing that noise.
BUT after some digging and advice, I found a tip to silence them a bit.

Here is a tutorial on how to oil the rotor bearings:

https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...782-how-to-silence-the-rotor-on-a-bp-nautilus

Here is the guide on choosing the right oil for the job:

https://nobswatchmaker.com/blog/art-of-oiling-in-watchmaking

Here is a link to the oil I bought, after reading the articles and talking to somebody who knows a lot more than I do:

https://www.esslinger.com/moebius-9104-synt-hp-1300-synthetic-watch-oil-2ml/

I will post an update once the oil arrives and I successfully try and silence the rotor. If it doesn’t fix it / muffle it to an acceptable standard, I’ll just take it out and have a mechanical hand winding watch instead of an automatic. The pushers make it easy to set any complication on this watch fairly quickly.

The only other beef I have with the watch is the deployant clasp. It looks great, but feels like it could be a weak point further down the line.

The leather band RF gives with this watch is garbage. I thought I felt some cheap leather before on my other leather band reps, but this one takes the cake. Immediate replacement.

After all that has been said, I would still buy the watch all over again. It’s the dial that really is mesmerizing. I was wearing it out last night and it caught the attention of the group I was with a few times. Truly, an amazing job by RF. If you can get over the noise, or want to silence it, I highly recommend the watch. A solid 8/10 for me.

A is rep dial, B is gen.

I saw this mentioned over on r/RepTime (I think), but the gen moonphase window looks much more like a sad face, and the rep moonphase window looks much more like an umbrella. Once I saw it I couldn't un-see it. I'm hoping ZF can address this in a future version. I'm not sure I'd be able to spot it without a side-by-side comparison, but I think I probably could.

The two look insanely close to me. The subtler gen sunburst is a far bigger tell than the moonphase. Stunning watch and I can't wait for mine to arrive, hopefully this week!

It seems like the gen's moonphase is a tad slimmer at the edges of the moonphase, but it really is close enough for my standards and probably most of our standards too!

pistebasher what colour did you order it in?

Rose gold and brown dial. :D, if its as good as the standard FiftySix rep I will be exceptionally pleased.

well, maybe I'm overthinking it but isn't the pusher at 8 o'clock a bit of a deal-breaker? Considering the real one does not have it? Also, does anyone know if the blue colour is the exact same as on the normal fiftysix or is it updated as it was realised later?

Not for me. Having it at 8 o'clock makes it easier than having the pusher between the lugs.

Up to you. If you plan on having a NWBIG, then don't look at this FiftySix. It is definitely at least a first class rep, but there are numerous small details that can be addressed by ZF in the next version. Besides, as long as you enjoy the watch then it doesn't matter what others think about it.

yea I know it wont be 1:1 but I don't know if its better going with the blue complete calender or the normal fiftysix blue? the blue looks good on the full calendar but at least from the pics it doesn't look like the same as on the normal fiftysix??? any idea?

The blue regular FiftySix is incredible and will pass even close scrutiny. I have the gen fifty six (silver dial) for comparison. Happy to show you some side by side shots. The blue is spot on. The biggest tell on the rep is the shit strap but Tan_Go can give you a better-than-gen vacheron strap for about half their price.
