Mark III is very different from Mark I. ZF is supposed to have made the III... In the sun, yours is also very different from the III !
like I wrote before, it is very difficult to judge from a photo specially a dial that is changing color according to light temperature and light angle of exposure. if you refer to the shot I posted some pages ago, yes mine is a Mark3 and, these are non processed.
if we talk about the color exclusively, it could be summed up like this :
gen varies from
-soft grey when cloudy
-soft blue when dark outside --> ZF managed to mimic this color imo
-blue when sun shines
-looks "metallic" at noon
-looks green at 4:00pm
each of the colors are nice with a preference for the 1st and last when on. the wrist....

without being an expert my feeling is that the way the dial is machined and painted makes these color change and differences.

The color my Dp dial is very dynamic from shade of middle blue to night blue and black. The color dynamic range and the sunburst might be even greater than those of my gen 15450 dial. From these aspects the DP dial can be way different from the gen 15202 but I very like how it looks.

in fact I can understand, being myself a big fan of the buff 5711 dial color variations even if not close to gen colors...

@grillbrill collects 15202 dials for a living, he is obsessed with them, clearly. :ROFLMAO:
Haha, while it is true for blue watches (my favourite color is blue as for the majority of humans as well) but not specifically for 15202. I own only a ZF and a DP 15202 dials. Nautilus are the models out of which I have 7 or so dials (but none of them is gen :ROFLMAO:).

@grillbrill, would you mind sharing a close up shot of the DP dial so that we can distinguish the machining lines of the patern...
Sure, once I receive it from my modder. Anyway, other forum members might already have the dial in their possession before I get my modded 15202 back.

Bro, wich dial is better and more close to gen, ZF or XF?

I've never seen gen and XF dials IRL, maybe @Erinoush or @legend know the answer.

I like the blue color of the ZF dial on its own but it's plain and dull compared to the DP's custom dial. I like moderately shiny and blingy things that's why I prefer the DP dial. If DP or other makers could reduce the sunburst and glossiness of this custom dial and could put a bit more grey shade :) into it then that rep dial color would be be very close to Mark1 imho. I'm eagerly awaiting the possible release of the 2121 clone movement and I'm wondering if DP or other makers will improve their custom dials further for the would-be clone movement.

286 €

I asked DP for the price 3 days ago. IMO, ZF has the right colour compared to gen. But the variations are interesting. So why wouldn't we mod a gen dial too ? 😂
Maybe the first thing to do is to reduce the handstack...

Not sure why sometimes it is written in French in this thread ... there might be more frenchies than I thought here ...

Back to the topic, in my opinion the real difference is that on gen the "machined pattern and backgroud" are not the same color...., I think this is what the modder do not manage to mimic and that's why dials are not really like gen in term of color reflection. Instead, modders are boosting the sunburst (and then it looks more bling- same on the real 5711 VS Buff) ....

@Erinoush Then you think these circular grooves could make the different colours... The only way to know is to ask someone working at AP or look if another AP without "tapisserie" has these variations of colour.

yes i do think so .....
but overall this is somehow nitpicking, like we mentioned before there are beautiful rep dials and no one will never grab your wrist in the street because he saw your watch has too much sunburst and the dial doesn't look legit :) ....
