Although I am deaf, I am not daft! (I even have a piece of paper to prove I'm not daft haha). People often get the two confused in my experience. So I started using 'deafnotdaft' a while ago.

Wow, can't believe that a) I've never seen this thread before; b) how random some of your handles are and c) that I'm about to resurrect this ancient thread.

Still, most people incorrectly guess the origin of mine, so I'm gonna go right ahead and explain. Back when I was in university, there was a long-running ad campaign for the breakfast cereal Shredded Wheat starring the legendary cricketer Ian Botham. The pitch was always the same for the 20-odd years the campaign ran; Shredded Wheat is good for your heart. The logo was in the shape of a heart, so in uni Shredded Wheat became known as Botham's Love, which evolved into The Love of Botham. Cue all sorts of crude innuendo whenever anyone ate it, eg. "I'm gonna get me some of Botham's Love inside me" and so on.

As it's my favourite cereal, I still think of my housemates from those days whenever I eat it, and it has remained my nickname to this very day.

And it is so obscurely random that it's always available as a username, unlike my common-as-he'll real name!

I hurt myself before a friends wedding and had to use a cane [for the wedding and subsequent weeks], so everyone started calling me House.
Halloween was in that time period and i am in a band so we played a halloween show. I got some custom made 6.0's, put on a suit jacket and went as House M.D. [pill popping included].

Was told all night my commitment to getting high and playing music made me a House Pro. Haus = house in german

Early in my career (1997) the neighborhood kids began calling me Robocop and it stuck with me for years. All police usually get a nickname and just hope it is a good one as it will follow you through your entire career. I have had many assigned work areas (beats) however as of today the longest assigned beat for me is Unit 322. I have had this beat for years now and drive car 322 every night so for me it was easy...Robocop322 Still trying to figure out how those crazy kids got Robocop as a nickname...haha

Origin of my name is not really spectacular but here it goes...

When I started to study I moved in to a student house, and one of the guys who already lived there
had the same name as I did so the gave me the nickname Japie.
When I registered here 'Japie' was already taken, so I added the James Bond digits.
Therefore japie007

Last name is Dudley. Many years ago a friend started calling me Doright. It stuck. I even had a "Doright" licence plate for a while.

Some are really funny, especially the bleeding obvious.

Mine is nothing spectacular, name is Junaid and working in a call centre an elderly hard of hearing lady struggled to pronounce it. We finally reached an impasse, she finally said something I could live with... and Jundy was born.(better than what she began with, Julie, not very masculine :( )

Its stuck ever since.
