Lots of good high end headphones abound. Electrostatics, Dynamic, Mylars, etc. But the true test I honestly believe is if it makes you 'fold down' into your seat. If that violin makes you want to cry. If that sopranos voice sounds like God just became a woman. If the whole entire musical piece makes you shake with joy. To the very end. Real. True. No hype. Alive. Whew !! ................... Enjoy my friends.! We live in incredible times not witnessed a while back. New technology along with tried and proven past technologies provide us with fantastic products today. Light up them tubes ['valves' to you our British friends]. That tube amp looks like a mini Gotham City lighting up you musical space ! Let it sing !! Let it rock !!

Grado SR80i - heavily modified by me with silver cables, damped etc etc. Sound out of this world. Also had a custom made headphone amp for them. Beautiful setup, and cost me less than a new set of Beats - I really hate Beats with a passion!

i hate beats with a passion that has to be similar!! can't frigging stand them.. grado sr80i is without doubt the best value headphone you can get, you would have to spend a shed load more to get a better sound.. one of the best

Glad to see people agreeing! Last time I tried some I was in disbelief that they weren't broken or something, they're absolute dog shit of the highest order.

They are indeed and can truly be taken to another level with a few simple tweaks

Got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770s, with a cmoybb amp. These things are great, comfy as anything and the sound is fantastic. Got a set of leather earpads on them as I wasn't a fan of the velour pads.

I just recently picked up the Bose QC35 and I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. I know they're not on some audiophile level, but I wanted to go wireless with active noise cancelling. Meets all my needs, and I would recommend.

Then you need to listen to my home made orthodynamics - cups machined from solid blocks of African Black Wood ( Mpingo) finished with Carbon Fibre, all cabling in Mundorf Silver/gold... you'll have tears running down you cheeks listening to female vocals or violins...

I have a pair of Bose QC25 and Bower Wilkins P3. The P3's are horrible.. Such a muffled sound with just midtones. Packed them out, tried them, put them back in the box.. They've been there for the past year, wouldn't even feel comfortable gifting them away.

I however LOVE the QC25's. It's a bit of a hit/miss with the equalizing for different songs but overall excellent audio-quality regardless of the genre. The noise-cancelling is extremely nice and the fact that the can be used with/without batteries is also great. (Sound quality suffers without battery, but tolerable).

The only thing I sometimes miss in them would be a bit more bass for listening to house/hip-hop. Been considering to buy a special pair for that, just don't know which one? 150-300€ range?
