Having had the gen in my hand a half dozen times- I don't agree.

I have the noob and checked out a gen at a shop. The "yachtmaster" text is noticeably more bold and prominent on the gen. That and the bezel metal are pretty good tells.

You'd only know if you were looking for them, though.

On my rep, I actually can't even see the "yatchmaster" text unless the lighting is strong.

Nevertheless, it's a genius rep. I'm 100% satisfied. I would not worry with putting a gen dial,bezel, or even crystal on the noob. The grey dial masks the lack of black hole just like a polar explorer.

I have held both Rep and Gen in my hand together. This how I see it

First the things I think don't matter because you need to be an expert and have the two next to eachother to see;

Rehaut engraving not exactly correct , both engraving and luster

Bezel lettering slightly out and steel texture not quite platinum like

Lettering on dial a bit less clear and duller

Blueness in Cyclops AR

The one which stands out without direct comparison;

The big stand out tell for me is the way the dial gives back reflected light . It does not reflect straight lines near the markers, because it is not flat. The gen dial is as flat as a pancake and all the reflected lines show this. But you really need to be looking and moving the watch around in a direct light source .

I think though that it is an amazing rep and there are very few people in the world who could call it out even next to the gen. Even fewer who could call it out on its own. Those who can call it out on its own will be Rep experts. Gen experts can't tell sh$t even the very good ones. This is because they only look at gens and never look at Reps. We look at both.

I think 10.500 dollar difference in price will ease the "pain" [emoji6]
If someone think he calls me out wearing this rep he is just a liar.
90% of the people will call a Rolex fake, even if it is a gen.....unless i show them my mercedes 300 SL and doctor of medicine diplom.
That's just the way it is.

The 6 and 9 markers are the biggest tell on all the reps.

The sharp angle on reps? I can barely notice them without magnification. It's definitely there, though. I think every noob suffers from this.

Of course the loud rotor movement is pretty obvious, too.

In terms of this rep compared to other rolex reps, I'm very impressed. Highly recommended.

Did anyone try the noob YM with the JF bracelet? Is it a perfect fit, and if so is it possible to buy just the JF bracelet and from who?

Also, I have the noob YM 116622 and the rotor is really loud. Who can mod it for me to silence it?

My rotor is loud but my SEL are fine.

If I ever open the case, I'll just remove the rotor which essentially turns it into a handwine only.

Mine is a 2836, though. I've heard the 3135 clones are at risk of a broken stem if they are hand wound.

The rotor is the ticking sound right? Like when I hold my head up with my hand, I can hear the ticking. It's very annoying.

Negative - the rapid ticking sound is going to be present in all automatics.

Shake the watch by rotating your wrist. You'll hear the rotor shift and settle with a bit of vibration. On gen movements, this is virtually silent. The Asian clones and low cost movements will have an audible sound.

Aha got it. Is it possible to silence the ticking? It'd like it to be silent like gen or close to it.

The ticking is normal. If the ticking stops, the watch stops.

As for the rotor clanking back and forth, you can take it off and just manually wind the watch every day. Gen Pams, some iwcs, and speed master moonwatches are manual wind.

Rolex watches are all autos ( oyster perpetual ). But the gens don't have a loud clanky rotor.

Have you tried oiling the rotor? Seems to work well on silencing the noise a bit. Use the search function and you'll find a few threads telling you how it's done.
